Why do a lot of sex toy packages say "do not store with the batteries in," or "remove batteries when item is not in use?" Does the toy(s) run down the battery life if you store it with the batteries in? Or what?
I'd like to know fairly soon...
I think I'll have to invest in some rechargable batteries for the specific purpose for use in my toys.

The reason is because batteries can leak. When they do they ruin the electrical contacts and your toy won't work anymore.
Rechargeable batteries or not, it is a good idea to take them out when you store them.
It is not to save the battery. It's so the toy keeps working.

Toy makers should clearly print that on the packages, instead of leaving us wondering why we're taking out the batteries when were're done using them for the moment.
