Cervical Mucus refers to a jelly-ish substance produced by a woman’s body during her monthly cycle. Cervical mucus resembles the white of an egg. Cervical mucus is an important part of conceiving. Cervical mucus protects sperm from the acidic content of the vagina. The acids in the vagina typically will stop sperm from moving an neutralize them. Cervical mucus provides a place for sperm to go where it can be protected from these acids. In addition, cervical mucus will help sperm to travel up the fallopian tubes to the uterus to find an egg. Finally, cervical mucus will often detect sperm that are abnormal and slow them down, keeping them from getting to the egg and causing conception.
It is not uncommon for a bit of old blood that is left over from your previous menstrual cycle to show up in your cervical mucus. In other women, blood in the cervical mucus can be very common, and a sign that she bleeds just a little whenever she ovulates. Blood in the cervical mucus can also indicate a ruptured follicle. In more rare cases, blood in the cervical mucus can indicate trauma to the cervix, whether through an infection or even from sexual intercourse. Blood in your cervical mucus could also be implantation bleeding.
Implantation bleeding typically occurs around 10 to 14 days past ovulation and occurs when a fertilized egg attaches to the wall of your uterus. Implantation bleeding doesn’t occur for every woman but, when it does happen, it usually shows up as a brownish or pinkish tint to your cervical mucus. The bleeding is usually very light and lasts for a day or two. Implantation bleeding usually occurs before your period is due and much lighter than what you’d expect if you had your period.

Me too!!! When I wiped my butt i found some tiny dots of blood mixed with mucus and its sticky. when I wiped my vagina gently I didn't find blood instead I found my clear discharge! Im a virgin and im scared there's something wrong with my body!! Help!!!!

I am 26 with 2 children. I have had irregular periods my since I was 13 but never mucusy like this. The wierd part is this morning there was reddish brown blood at first it was a lot when I wiped but when I changed my tampon there was very little blood and a large amount of clear mucus hanging from it. I have taken a pregnancy test yesterday but it was negative. I am not sure what to make of this. Does anyone have any advice?

I just looked this mucus up the mucus is normal n comes out when u pass a bowel movement its mucus from ur cervix. The dark blood would be old blood or dark do to low progesterone. Small amounts of red blood could mean u just have such a light period its not flowing or could mean pregnate. Either way mucus is normal not a miscarriage as for blood many reasons.

Okay so I'm about to be 19 and I already have a baby, this only happened when I was pregnant with my son (I had a period for 3 months pregnant with him). I was not suppose to start yet so I'm two days early usually it's on time or a day late, last month o had sex on the day of my first period because it was late, then I had sex on two fertile days, I also have a uti because I my doctors said my body is not use to tea it has to much sugar he did not tell me,what the test said. I been cramping and hurting bad it takes my body three hours to fill up a regular size tampon and it has long bloody mucus when a white or on tampon please help?

My guess is that it is early child bearing years and your body is working itself out. It is just getting started so to speak. As for myself at 45, I am just now experiencing this and I am getting towards the end of my fertility so,mine is closing down. The only other possibility is cervical cancer if that is even related to mucus instead of a normal period.
