Yep, Sea bass just did it to me too. I am relieved to find out that I'm not the only one.

Thank goodness, I thought I was developing colon cancer or ulcerative colitis or something scary and daunting. I tooted once or twice and that stuff came out, and I was wondering what the hell happened to me, and was embarassed. :$ 8-| I had Walu (Hawaiian Butterfish) two nights ago! It is delicious, but very oily...hence the strange orange oil. This is a very odd phenomenon. People should warn you. ;-)

Hey, it happened to me - though I do not eat fish (or any other meat) as I am a vegetarian. Any other known causes for it? I ate fries, omelette, pad thai yesterday...Nothing i have never eaten before and no fish or meat. Thanks for ur help

i experienced the same. dark oil in the stool...for a while i was actually taking 3 tablets of fish oil and my gas smelled horrible. i stopped that bc of the smell. fast forward 3 weeks, i find more "oily" stool. a week later, now i have the dark oil in the stool. i also had some fish two nights ago from a chinese restaurants- i think the fish was pretty oily. it was supposed to be tilapia but maybe it was another kind? had salmon last week... very odd. maybe my body just can't break down the amount of fish oil from before?
hopefully the dark oily stool goes away soon. 2nd day now.

This is not from fish. I am lactose intolerant and have been so for 20 years. Every time I have a situation with a lactose binge, I get this yellow/orange oil when I have a bowel movement. I eat fish about three times a year, and I gaurantee you that I have this problem 4-6 times per week.

So glad I found this site! I have had the orange oilies for 2 days, on Sat. I are white tuna. I hope this doesn't continue much longer. At least I'm not having some awful disease.
Red tuna will be the only tuna I get form now on.

Was your food cooked with lots of oil when you ate it?
This is a response from the body where your liver is overwhelmed from too much fat you had in-taken, and so it has no choice but to expel those extra fat; usually in appearance of a light orange floating oil substance.
You should see a doctor if this persists more than 2-3 days.
Hope you recover! :-)

It could also be a sign of malabsorption of nutrients. Often when people have pancreatic problems, the digestive system does not quite function like it should and can not absorb all of the fat and other essential nutrients your body needs. A lack of enzymes often does the trick to mess up your normal bathroom habits. If this has happened to you and you have not eaten fish recently, speak with your doctor. You may have a problem larger than just some funky food scenario, and your body needs all the nutrients it can get in order to stay healthy.
