I'd say if you are feeling unwell too, then likely STREP which is very serious, see the doctor, you need antibiotics for. In my case I only have the stabbing sore throat that catches when I talk. About 12 years ago I had this and ultimately coughed up a polyp. Found out it was attached in my throat/ vocal cords (and it was found to be non-cancerous). So... I'm thinking I must have more now. Going to see the doctor.

I searched this as i had it happen to me today. Thought it was allergies and it is but then out of know where i get this pain in my throat felt like i swallowed a knife or sharp object. I immeditely started coughing afterward and lost my voice. Very scary it hurt so bad i cried and went to express care. I thought right away strep. But all areas they checked i passed. No strep no ear infection heart sounded good no issues other than some neck swelling and tenderness. The doctor could see i was in pain and concerned so he suggested i go to urgent care and i did. And im one i dont go unless im dying. That doctor was puzzled as well passed all areas he took a closer look in throat and say a premature ulcer that goes away on its own. Its a scary name for canker sore. However i just have a bad thought that its more i mean it hurts like hell. After looking into it i read it could be cancer which runs in my family.. So please be safe and make sure its not. Good luck
