I would like to know what the final diagnosis was because my 6 yr old daughter has the exact same symptoms. It is scary... her pediatrician said she had a fungal infection on her head and referred to a dermatologist to which we are waiting for an appt.

I am 16 going on seventeen(male)... Very active and healthy... my throat has been bothering me for the past couple of weeks, but now my throat seems to be better. I had itching on the back of my head, but now I have a swallon occipital behind my my ear, along the hair line. I am curious as well, whether this is cancerous, or just an allergic reaction. I have had throat problems in the past when younger. I had strep throat often and sore throats... I had my tonsils removed when I was about 10. I am also wondering if this can be a sign of throat cancer... Any help or information will be great!? Hope everyone one on feels somewhat better. Thx

Take a hard look at lyme disease (ld) symptoms. So many of the symptoms mentioned hear are consistent with ld.
Do not trust results of the Western Blot or Elisa titer (false negatives). Try Olive Leaf Extract 4 caps daily. Look for Herxheimer reaction in 2 days (lasts 1 day). Take until smx resolve.

I had exactly the same symptoms.Got diagnosed in 20 seconds with shingles.The lump or scratching on the top of your head is the starting point and works its way down the nerve.Validation would be that you have had chicken pox in earlier years.remnants lie dormant ready for stress or a comprimised immune and bingo the virus climbs the nerve axons to surface and irritate.hope this helps.

My final diagnosis when I went to the doctor was a severe sinus infection so I was given antibiotics and zyrtec and within a few days it all cleared up.

When I worked outdoors, I have had swollen lymph glands after getting bites from mosquitoes and small flies in the grass. At the time I was sure it was cancer but was relieved to find out it was not. I think you should still see the doctor but don't panic. It may be simple.

Hope ur son is better. I've had this condition for years. I believe mine is called occipital neuropothy. Mine started to get bad about 13 years ago. Mine is worse if I don't keep my hair washed at least every other day. My head gets extremely hot at night causing me to itch and wakes me up. Ice packs really help. Finally discovered it breaks out, due to an auto immune disease and the liver flares up a bit throwing out toxins that it cannot filter therefore the rash and itching. Detoxing, no alcohol, sugar anything your allergic to even heavy doses of allergy shot medication only foods good for u. Drink lots of water and detox tea.
