My 12 yr old daughter started getting stomach pains over a week ago (wed 21/04/2010) which I first thought were period pains. I gave her Paracetamol and she cuddled a hot water bottle. On the following Monday (26/04/2010) the pains were still very bad so I called the Dr. He examined her and said her right kidney and bladder were tender and it was probably an infection. He gave her 3 days worth of antibiotics and asked for a wee sample to go for tests. The surgery nurse called me on Thursday morning (29/04/2010) to say there was no infection, but didn't know why my Daughter was still in lots of pain and arranged for the Dr to call me. He called a few hours later and said to take her to the surgery that afternoon so he could look at her again. On his second examination he decided she had SWOLLEN STOMACH GLANDS, giving it a very fancy and non-understandable name, and said it should be gone in a week to 10 days. This was already day 9 !! He also asked for blood tests to be done and an ultra sound scan. We are still waiting for the blood results and the scan could take a few weeks to be done. Can someone please tell me what swollen stomach glands means and what causes it. I've googled it several times but I'm still none the wiser as I keep getting sent to articles about neck glands.
