My left temple swells occasionally, usually when I'm stressed. Very uncomfortable, especially when I bend my head down. Stays for a day or two, then leaves. Thing is, I've had it for over 40 years, noone's been able to diagnose this, and I've just let it be. So good so far.

GO GET YOUR WISDOM TOOTH PULLED OUT AND YOUR PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED!!! I had the same problem and noticed it after my wisdom tooth erupted and lived with it for over a year. As soon as I got it pulled out, it went away LITTLE BY LITTLE and now it's COMEPLETLY GONE. It took a good 3 months until it was finally gone. It was also mainly my right side which was the side with the wisdom tooth. Best of luck!

I have been having a lot of aching in my left ear and went to the Dr everytime it happened but the Dr said that there was no infection.  However, yesterday when I woke up I looked in the mirror and was shocked to see both my temples swollen and I am feeling like my head will explode.  I recently got high blood pressure and I don't know if this is associated with the temple swelling.  I will see a Dr this week.  If anyone hears anything relating to this please post.

The same thing happened to me about a month ago. I was eatting some chips and I felt it swelling and went in the bathroom, looked and it was swollen pretty big. I stopped eatting the chips and later the swelling went away. I will be making an appointment to see if something is wrong with me. I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one.

As I read, I can just see comments like "I have that too..." Yes, I have that too :/  My left temple is swollen, and not only when I eat! It is swollen 24/7. I don' have pain (sometimes a little). I went to hospital and did electroencephalography (eeg). They told me that the swell is not connected with the brain (I was afraid because of a brain tumor). That thing helped me a little, but I want to know what is that swell...It is ok that it's not connected with the brain but it can be something dangerous anyway. I went to a dentist, went to otorhinolaryngolog, went to an optical doctor and all of them told me that everything is fine. YES...EVERYTHING IS FINE BUT THE SWELL IS NOT! That lasts for 1 month, and these 2 days I started to fell the pain on the right side. I think that side is not normal too. It might be caused because of computer...I spend so much time working on the computer. I will try to leave the computer for a while or maybe to go for other head scans.
What about you people? Is there anyone that have solved this problem? I am getting nervous because of this...
P.S. Sorry for my bad English :)

Hello I just started to have the same problem. I notice I get most often after lying around a lot watching tv. Then after eating bread pizza ect. Iresearched this and it could be an immune problem. The immune system attacks the glands located around the ears then the liquids. Move upwards through the caliperies. But that's all I got . Is there a soloution yet? Or are we alians? LOL

Could High Blood Pressure be the cause??

I noticed my temple area swelling about a year ago and was also diagnosed with high blood pressure around the same time. I have been worried I have a mysteriious disease and before long my face will be deformed like a mutant so I just told myself my brain was growing and therefore I was getting smarter. (it made me sleep better at night) :)

This is quite a revelation, if it is connected with high blood pressure.

Nope. But did notice that it comes only when I'm not active. Watching tv all day, lying down a lot. Wished someone knew the reason for this. Sorry!

Well, I was suffering from a strange cold that never seemed to go beyond my head. No sore throat, no coughing up phlegm, nothing beyond my head. But my head was stuffed. My jaws were killing me, chewing hurt, my temples, under my eyes, the jaw, upper and lower, around my ears. Then I noticed my temple was puffed out on the right side. I was scared to death and found this page. That was a month or two ago, it resolved itself within a week or two as the cold left, but it left SLOWLY and I kept using a cold spoon on the temple there. It was a very strange experience but finding this page calmed me down quite a bit. It took a while to go away but it started to go down within about four days (still took weeks to be unnoticeable) and hurt whenever I was chewing much. I stopped eating anything like steak or raw veggies and ended up sticking to liquids for two of my three meals for a bit because of the discomfort. Anyway, I wanted to come back and share. I held off in case I died. I didn't want to give the wrong impression.

I just scared myself to death after noticing swollen temples in the mirror!!! I had a bit of an allergic reaction this evening which is quite common for me and my eyes went a bit puffy, but never have my temples swollen!! My head feels stuffy and for 3-4 days I've been in agony with jaw ache, back and neck ache and my sinus feel blocked too.... Doctors tomorrow I think, as useless as they are!!! I recently had my 3rd baby .. Hope it's nothing to do with blood pressure although have never suffered high blood pressure and my diet is healthier than its been in ages. I'm 29 female
