yo im 25 smoked at 13 quit at 14 no problem. started smokin again mild to moderately 17-19 and heavy 20-Present. By heavy I mean 1-3 blunts a day to the head. During the ag range 20-25 I've quit 4 times. Once for 1 month, once for 4 months, once for 6 months and once for 8 months. Other than being bored and more irritable or moody I must say that the symptoms are not bad. I smoked ciggs for 5 years and quit them within 4 weeks by cutting out a pack a week and then finally after the 4th week going cold turkey. I had a stretch were I'd do blow at the clubs 2-3 times a week for about a 4 month run summer 07.....how did I kick that? I dont know I never felt hooked just felt a lil off the first week or 2 after but smoking a lil extra weed made me feel better until eventually I was back to normal. I think alcohol is way more addictive than weed, at least for me because I build a tolerance to booze within a week (3-4 nights of drinking). I'll go from feelin a nice buzz off 2-4 beers to nothing without 10-12....thats why I really dont like to drink often. I've smoked dirt regs dro piff from cali northern lights haze u name it......I honestly feel the potency is usually blown out of proportion and the smoothness flavor ad smell stand out more than anything else when comparing different kinds of hydro. Northern lights and the stuff from Cali got me higher than usual but it was a cleaner high I felt great. The point of me saying all this is to let you know that the severe symptoms most of u have are with out a doubt psychological. One can argue that its psychological because of the thc's effect on the brain but I think its more of a hypochondriac kind of trait in which you've convinced yourself that weed makes your life better and isnt just fun. Therefore when u quit u start to struggle with the everyday things that you'd either smoke away or feel better about high. Lets face it if your not rich or bangin out a hot b***h every night or a complete sports/video game nut life gets really monotonous....weed mellows u out and makes u appreciate simple things more, u might chill on the deck if its sunny a few hours just loungin enjoying the outdoors cuz your high n life is good......but then your not high n sittin outside sux n is boreing....its not the weeds fault u have to make a decision. do want to live life like your living it n smoke weed to kill the monotony or do u want to find something (career hobby girl etc) that stops the monotony just as well if not better. Thats all up to u, some people like me can do a lil of both but some people cant. But the bottom line is that its u not the weed. U have the power to control it. Just be honest with yourself, find out what kind of person u are and what u want out of life.....after u do that things will work themselves out. However u also have to remember that weed helps cancer patients and IBS sufferers with appetite and nausea disorders so u guys that are pukin n sh*t need to see a doctor. Its probably not withdrawl your just not gettin your medicine anymore, the weed was relieving symptoms of condition u didnt know u had. Dont get crazy tho just see a Doctor you'll be fine. I wouldn't mention the weed tho cuz if u get a Doc whos neva smoked weed or against it he's going to blame it all on the weed n treat u like a drug addict which u are not. Now I'm going to smoke a blunt lol lata

I was a casual smoker all through high school and the second i got to college i began smoking every day, several times a day. I did this for nearly 6 years and one day about 3/4 weeks ago decided to quit cold turkey. I also chewed tobacco all day every day during these times and quit at the same time. anybody that says smoking weed is not addictive and doesn't have any side effects is absolutely crazy...my withdrawl symptoms have been TERRIBLE to deal with, the day i stopped smoking my muscles began twitching uncontrollably. i also have been experiencing headaches almost daily as well as seeing things in my vision such as light flashes, stars, and other things in my peripheral. every time im watching tv i think i'll see something flash on the wall to look and find nothing there. I have been clean for several weeks now and am still having all of the symptoms, although now that im about 20 days clean things seem to be getting a little bit better. I have been foggy headed and feel almost stoned most of the day and have a hard time focusing as well as problems with my memory. I know that if i did not quit smoking that i would not be experiencing any of these issues but I HOPE that in the long run it will be a wiser decision for me to clean my life up and be sober rather than living my life high all the time. I definitely do not feel normal but i hope that some day i know what it means to be normal again

congratulations to all you pple who have  made their mind up to quit smoking weed. after smoking weed off and on for over 2 decades, but excessivly for the last 2 y of my life, i realised that this addiction is now controlling me, and not vice versa any more. i am on day 4 of abstinence now.  i dont feel like a am dying(yet) but i sweat out unbelieveable amouts of fluids...unfortunately both day and night..., no appetite or ability to eat when i do force myself to, severe headache now going on for 3 days...and my neck is stiff. i cry over the stupidest little thing, i am irritable, thank god for sleepytime tea i do not have insomnia, but i did dream about weed...i saw it vividly, all the paraphernalia i used to use..., .

i am determined and tell myself that i want to quit this time because i cannot live on like that, and my kids deserve a better mom than an always stoned one.

good luck , determination and wanting it is the key.

No he's being truthful, I experienced those EXACT symptoms after smoking for a month STRAIGHT. I never thought that there were withdrawal symptoms from marijuana but unfortunately, there are. Mood swings, depression, feeling like s*it as the guy up there put it, and feeling like puking when waking up in the morning, along with massive sweating at random times. I think if you quit cold turkey after smoking EVERYDAY, then you might get withdrawal symptoms. If you only smoke a couple times a week between spaced out days, the withdrawal symptoms may not be as bad.

Hi. Its somehow good to read that i am not the only one with this kinda side-effects. For me, the worst part was insomnia but i think it wasnt because i quited smoking weed. Sleepness came earlyer. But when i stopped smoking, it was a literally f...ing nightmare. The insomnia went really bad. I didnt had a proper sleep 3 month. Avarage sleep time was like 4 hours. I had no appetite, i lost my weight totally (i am a very long and thing guy from my birth) but 70kg its definitely underweight for 2m guy.

So i started working out and tried eat as much as i can. It didn help. Then second month those sleepless night started to mess with my brain. I hadnt no controll whatsoever what i was saying.  So obvious outcome was that i lost  a verry pretty woman and i anti socialized from people.

Eventually i started to take anti deppressants and it worked. It worked like a charm. I was sleeping like a baby. But like a month ago, i took hit again and i started smoking again. And more heavily than before. I did like 5 joint a day and the first one made my feel high. Other was like regular smoke :/ And i cant live like this. So i quited, again and had my first insomnia night. Only one hour sleep. But i am still eating those AD-s and hopefully its still working .

Just saying that ive smoke like 6 years. And i think those 6 years are just throwed away and i cant get them back.

And i remeber when i started smoking, the high feeling i had, made me very sleepy. But now when i do it it makes me like energyzed bunny rabbit. And i dont want food or anything. No motivation whatsoever.

But the motivation lackness comes from ADD what i probably have and this is a different story.

Sooo... reallly if someone needs help, visit a doctor/shrink. It will definitely help.

Best regards from Europa

K.V

You obviously are the occasional weed user. For people that use it every day like me to help control my anxiety, when you don't have it, you do feel like sh*t. I ran out for the first time in years yesterday and I had no appetite and by the end of the day I was throwing up and sweating like a pig.

You have never experience these things because you are the "do gooder" as you say and don't smoke really enough to feel the withdrawal symptoms. Try smoking weed every day for a month and then quitting cold turkey and see how you feel.

I disagree, I am a MD and smoke and can testify that withdrawals are for real!! What medical school did you go to?

DO NOT go on anti-depressants.

Believe me you will f**k yourself up.

Dont fix a drug addiction with another one.

I'm talking from experience of 7 years on them.. it was EVEN WORSE to come off of.

Is that what you want? To substitute a withdrawal for another one in the future???

Hey ive been smoking weed on and off for the last 4 years I cut it for 45 days seven months ago and then went back to smoking it for the last seven months half a g to a g max a day in joints no bongs or anything else I quit two days ago. My question is how long will it take me to feel perfectly normal even though I dont have any problems sleeping or eating just a bit of craving and mood swings not critical though when will I be 100%? Thanks allot for your efforts guys.

The Tinnitus is the really annoying part,I only smoked pot for 2 and a Half years and this is what I get for trying to quit, then i think the anti-depressants are in fact making it worse, I think what will work is for one to just stay calm and get rid of the anxiety first,it is all cyclic you know, your Tinnitus gives u anxiety and the anxiety amplifies the noise. I believe this is going to take a lot of patience, it is hard but it is very possible. Whichever way you choose to deal with this, just have it at the back of your mind that going back to pot is the wrongest decision to make right now.
