Occasionally, after eating very spicy foods, i get a sensation in my testicles, much like it feels after you get hit there. I'm wondering if i should be worried about this. It goes away after i have a bowel movement.
thanks

I had this problem for about three years at age 45, went through very many tests, scans, ultrasounds,ex rays and then 1 surgery to remove my epididymis .(waste of $6000). The doctors kept saying nothing was wrong and they basically told me it was a mental condition, because they didnt know what it was.
Finally went to a urologist in Grand Rapids, Mi. and he new what it was and how to fix it. I will say your on the right track with the certain foods that effect it.
What probably happened is you kind of "pulled a muscle" by trying to push to hard on a bowel movement. The problem is not an allergy to food it is just that some foods/drinks aggravate it and dont allow it to heal. It is completely curable!
Once I found this out I was skeptical but tried to follow their instructions as best i could. It took about 6 months to heal, but my case seemed worse than most. A couple times I had to lie down because it was so bad (like getting kicked in the balls, but only the left one)
What you need to do is eat more fiber to allow easy stools for a long period of time so it can heal. If it wont come out, wait a while until you dont have to push it out.
Applesauce, cherries, bran flakes and such are your new best friends along with most fruits and vegetables. (google high fiber diet)
Exercise will help keep things moving especially if you have a desk job.
There are a bunch of things to avoid though, which are very important!!!
Tomato based everything including pizza sauce, spaghetti sauce, ketchup, etc.
Chocolate :(
Most condiments are not good (especially BBQ sauce) but mustard is okay.
Avoid all drinks except for Water, milk and small amounts of apple juice. It is tough at first, but you get
used to it.
Stay away from any lemon, lime, and orange things.
Fast food and fried food like french fries and doughnuts
Most boxed products are not good, but healthy cereals and limited amounts of fiber one bars are okay.
Red meat is harder to digest than chicken and fish so try to only eat a serving of that every few days.
As noted in other post, spicy food is also on the list.
I am probably forgetting a couple things but you get the idea. if you eat something and later your stomach feels like someone tied your intestine in a knot, dont eat it next time. Massaging your stomach can help especially where it seems tight. Right to left above belly button and straight down below the belly button.
After I was healed I started eating everything again and couldn't believe it worked. I thought i would have the pain for the rest of my life, which at times made me start to consider suicide because it was so bad. Be careful though it can come back. I went pain free for over a year and was eating things like tomatoes, chocolate, lots of soda and junk food and it came back so I am towing the line again now.
Hope this helps. Ron

I am no doctor but I believe the muscle that is the issue is the one right near the anus used to help push out a bowel movement. Eating more fiber will make it easier to have a bowel movement so this muscle can relax. You can also try to not use this muscle by pushing with your stomach muscles.
If this is your issue and you follow what I said you should have less pain in a few weeks but plan on at least 6 months before your back to normal. At that time slowly start reintroducing these foods to monitor if your all better. or need to continue for a little longer.
