Hello, my father has been a passionate smoker for many years and he had problems with alcoholism. After quitting on cigarettes and alcohol, larynx cancer has been discovered. After the successful surgery a doctor recommended radiotherapy. Unfortunately, it looks like he has developed some throat problems following radiation. What could that be?

It is not impossible that during radiotherapy, some changes appear in the mouth (ulcers for example). To subdue this, he should maintain proper oral hygiene with the use of antiseptics. He should also eat fluid food as much as possible. And of course, I assume that his doctor is already notified about this problem and I am sure he/she will react accordingly.
