I get it with or without the light. Put you fingers in ice cold water, sweet relief! It's called topical dermititis. Hydrocortisone cream helps.

I experience the same problem when I forget to bring my own nail tools for the nail technician. Every nail technician should take the time to clean and disinfect all of their nail tools in between customers. When they do not germs and bacteria are spread from one person's body to another. Which results in itching, burning, and, swelling of the fingers.

I agree , the drill does harm the nail bed making them thin. I started doing my nails (gel). However, about 6 months ago I experienced the burning ,itching, and soreness usually lasting a day. I thought it was the uv light, maybe burning my skin. This time I used sun screen on on my hands an around finger tips. Still burning an soreness. I even thought it may b the alcohol I used to wipe my nails with before applying gel. I didn't use alcohol.still burning/itchy.So I disagree about it being the drill. Only thing different is I purchased GEL from EBay (IBD). Sally's was out of it, and I got a good deal.even tho the container said IBD, it could have been a different product in container. I'm going to take gel off nails. And get the gel from Sally's. If iburning continues, then I know I am allergic to the chemical in the gel solution. Will repost

I've had the same symptoms for the last three times i did my nails, but... I do acrylics ( never done gel). The only difference - last three times I used my own regular nail polish with gel in it... So I think it is something in gel more that in UV light.

I just started having the same problem and it's so irritating been doing my nails for years I believe it might be the gel because it started happening when I started getting gel nail polish instead of reg nail polish

First time in my life after getting acrylics my underneath the nail and all around my cuticles were itching sooooo bad I thought I was going to scratch my fingers off! It went away after a couple of days then I noticed peeling skin underneath my nails...weird! Then after a couple of weeks when my nail tech was removing the gel my nail were sepearated at the corner edges!! She immediately removed all the acrylic and told me to go to CVS and buy max strength fungal treatment and should be gone and repaired at most in a couple of weeks. She also advised me to try this new dipping gel that has the strenght of acrylic in gel form for people that have these kind of reactions is better and NO MORE ACRYLIC for me!

I've had the same.turned out to be a reaction of the nail primer coming in contact with my skin.and not the acrylic.

I'm thinking it's because it's been so long that I've had the pleasure if getting my nails done w 2017SR son going on all these college visits to being a single mom they often hurt by the end of the night but the next day I'm good I only get tips done with the color changing powder so I think it's just that happens every time after it's been a while

I'm sorry to say we are now band to never use acrylic nails or gel I try them all gel acrylic resin everything I even stop going to my nail tech and I started doing them myself since I went to school for it and still the same results it starts with itching near the cuticle then it takes all the finger it gets real red and in my case they swell all up and around the cuticle I went ahead and took them off I let it heal for 4 years no nails and then went ahead and did them again and the same reaction so my advice is to find u a good nail polish and forget of acrylic, gel, resin nails forever because I read that I once this happens to your nails you stuck to it for life so we can never get our nails done not even the gel polish work for me
