After 20 years of getting my nails done I realized exactly what I'm allergic to. I've always experience the same things a lot of you have described. About 6 hours after getting any type of manicure such as a gel manicure, acrylic, silk wraps I always break out in the same rash around my cuticles. And usually only last a couple days but it's intense. A few nail technicians told me you probably was the primer, but recently I told him not to use the primer and I still experience the exact same thing. After seeing an allergist I realize I'm allergic to Methyl acrylate. My doctor told me that so many people have seen him for many years now because the chemical is found in many many nail polishes primers hardeners and other products that they use at the nail salons. I hope that my feedback might help a person or two, I got to say that I'm not going to stop doing my nails though I guess I'll just deal with the 24-hour agony of painful itching. My mother always told me it hurts to be beautiful :)

I bought a nail set Red carpet at first it was great .Then i started to feel the tips of my fingers throbbing, itching i thought it was the bleach i used to clean the bathroom at first then the skin around my nails got very sore ,cracked and peeled and tiny spots like blisters appeared
I left the gel off for a few months until yesterday.. i tried it again, this morning i have had to remove it,my finger tips are once again itching and throbbing .why this is happening now i have no idea .

I been doing plenty of research the same is happening to me and doesnt seem to go away or looks like gets better then bad again.....i really starting to think its from the usage of the tools and if u noticed the grinding tools and the brush they use to put the acrylic is only wiped off by a napkin and the tool never once seen them throw away or sanitize before jumping to next person.....so really think a fungus or some type of bacteria infection is being passed person to person......look up athletes feet pictures u can also get this in between fingers and hands just like feet,,,,and on scalp......use lotrimin cream to kill it and after i did that just from cream is just really dry.......guess its the process....but from info and pictures this looks like this is what this is......AND THAT can be def picked up from floors and counters and tools........hope this helps....

Wow I thought I was going crazy until i googled this questioned and now see how a lot of us are suffering from this. Its just horrible and not sure if i want to continue getting them done but what I'm thinking wright now after reading all of your post is that 1) Most of us admit to having our nails done for the past 20+ years with no issue and now within i would say a couple years according to the post this has started happening, well whats different
the uv Light we all stick our hands under is all i can think and I have to admit that this last visit to the salon i was chit chatting longer than usual while my nails were drying and oh my goodness there so bad i also have been kept up most of the night with the itching. I hate it though the lady at the salon is acting like im crazy like she has never heard of this before. i say bs now that i see all these post.

Under no circumstances should your nails hurt in anyway after a set of nails done. My guess is a product they have used maybe oil or it's a primer burn, like the previous comment said it could be the smallest thing, it could also be toluene or Formaldehyde in the nail polish. Good luck.

10 years ago this started happening to me, after getting acrylic nails for about 15 years. The itch would last 2-4 days. It is an allergy to the acrylic. It doesn't matter where you go, if you continue to go, one nail tech said the nail could end up falling off. I switched to gel polish, I miss my long pretty nails but it is not worth the itching. Every now and then for a special occasion I try again but even after years of not having them on it will still itch after I do a full set. It is actually very common.

I do my gel nails myself and have been for 2 years now and this started happening to me about 2 months ago. I believe it it just when the polish gets around the nail onto the skin so make sure if that happens that the polish is removed by the stick before you set the gel with the light.
I have had my gel nails done in a shop the last 4 weeks and I have been fine and they did this so just be more careful the product is not going on the surrounding skin at all

This is happening to me know. I took the acrylics off 3 months ago because of the itching. I loved my nails, so I just went and had a fresh set put on in hopes of everything will be ok now. Dang it it has only been 3 hours and they itch like heck, that is why I am online to see if I can find a solution to the itching.

I have been getting my nails done for 6 years. I use acrylic and they do not use a UV light on mine. the past 4 times within 4 to 6 hours after getting my nails done my fingers start to turn red around the cuticle and they start to itch and burn. it has gotten so bad that I wake up in the middle of the night scratching at my fingers. It last anywhere from three to five days. I wish someone could help me also with this problem

I had my nails done with acrylic and the itching started. My cuticle was red, itchy and sore. I bought the organic monomer from ASP to use with the ASP acrylic powder and walla...no more itching and soring. I also used the primer from ASP brand. Im not a sales person or receiving any benefits from this company ASP. It seriously works. Apparently this company does not use the strong chemicals that other companies use as part of their ingredients. Try it Im serious!
