A few years ago I experienced it at the time I was only using crystal to get my nails done so I stopped for a bit until they came out with anc it never gave a problem up until today. I think it's the acetone used to soak the nails off. I am in agony and I'm vowing to never do nails again

Yes I have the same issue, this makes sense to me because I am allergic to the sun and heat as well... never put the two together though.

same thing happened to me.... finally worked it out... i do my own gel nails and before i use the u.v lamp i tape off the cuticle area and also apply sunscreen to my hands... worked a treat- no reaction... personally i stopped using acylic and went onto gel builder for those who will no doubt hit the reply button and tell me i am wrong...well i will say this either way- u.v is dangerous... the blistering crazy itchiness swollen cuticle that weep and peel ---- - is caused by the u.v lamp .. hope this helps anyone who has had this issue..

Thanks. The reason I'm looking this up is I'm a first timer and mine are all painful just hours after getting them done. The tech did grind them and the tool looked like it had not been cleaned. I love the way they look but will probably not have this done again.

Yes I felt pain as soon as the light was turned on. First time I've had these but don't like how painful it feels hours after getting it done. This is scary to me.

Hi there all,

I am a qualified ITEC Beauty Specialist and like us all we want to have nice nails. I have tried all the nail ways you can have and in my professional opinion; they all damage your nails. In answer to the burning, itiching and chill blain like effect of your finger tips this is the glue. The strong glue that is of superglue smell and strength penetrates the nail plate via the entry points around the hyponychium and eponychium - free edge, cuticles and seal to the matrix of the nail. I had to take an anti-allergy tablet for the reaction to go. It took 1 week of taking anti-allergy tablets for this pain to go. All the same my professional advice and I know its not what anyone wants to hear - stick to plain manicures regularly. They are cheaper and if you are going to spend that money anyway, better to use products that will care for your nails and hands in the long run you will be pain free that way unless there is an underlying immune disorder. Always get professional medical doctors help with that one. So in short stay away from false nails, glue and anything else that will cause this tingling problem. All the best.

I wore acrylics for years before I experienced extreme itching swelling etc. Once we develop the allergy it's here for good I occasionally put them on for events and the first 24 hours are hell. I'm going to try gel

thank God I found your post. I agree. I'm in beauty school to be a nail tech. we practice on our own nails at time and I wasn't sure if it was the primer or monomer. then I thought I became allergic to the chemicals. I found a site that was from Tammy Taylor and she said we could possibly be using the primer too much, overusing or overexposure? not sure but I made up my mind that I am growing my nails out naturally and I wont give up on my dream to be a nail tech. just being more cautious when I do nails on clients. to wear gloves, get acid free primer, and I might only do SNS nails on my clients. its crazy how much I learned about nail products and how much chemicals are in them. like my nails and cuticles are horrible right now. cracked, peeling, swollen and painful at tips. my nail is almost lifting from the skin and its almost causing a lesion of some sort. I know I'm not the only one who suffers. I hope we have pretty nails without all the chemicals . thank you.

I have been miserable and FINALLY FOUND SOMETHING THAT HELPED TREMENDOUSLY! I found an essential oil blend at HEALTHY HOME MARKET, it contains peppermint, lavender, ginger, German chamomile, blue tansey, Roman chamomile and helichrysum. It's called NATURE'S FUSION, COOLING WATER. I sprinkled it liberally on my hands and rubbed it in like lotion. MIRACULOUS! PLEASE POST EVERYWHERE, but ADVISE CAUTION, anyone can have sensitivities to oils as well! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!
