This is just out of curiosity as I thankfuly don't have thyroid cancer or know anyone with thyroid cancer, but I did hear that after the removal of the thyroid gland, thyroid hormones normally have to be taken. Would anybody here happen to know how this works? It would be great if you could explain it!

Well,
It is good to know that you don’t have problems with the cancer. And also it is good that you like to inform yourself about the possibilities also. I know that when you remove the thyroid gland you have to use hormone replacements in order for your system to continue to work properly. Your doctor will prescribe you a therapy that suite your body and you will have to take this all the time for the rest of your life. There are several types of hormones so you will have to talk to your doctor about this. I hope that you find this helpful in any way.
All the best,
Nelie
