My daughter, 3 years old, for the past month has been telling me her legs hurt, mostly at night but sometimes during the day, as well. After she woke up one night crying, pointing to her leg and saying her arms hurt too, we went to the ER just to come back home with Tylenol and the whole thing was dismissed as ‘growing pains’. We went to our podiatrist few days later, he seems to think that growing is the reason for the pain after x-ray results came and showed nothing wrong. This is going on for the month now and I’m hoping to get some advice on what to do next. I’m not sure what kind of specialist should we see, it’s hard to keep believing that this much pain is just growing pain like everyone keeps telling me.

Does she complain every day about it? Is her activity affected, like she has quit doing certain things like running? It could be muscular rather than bone-related. You may want to go to a pediatrician and get a better checkup for her. If the pediatrician has no idea about her condition, he/she can make the appropriate referral for your daughter.
Has anyone else had a child going through these kind of pains? I would like to hear anyone's experience about a child having pains described as 'growing pains' but it may be something else? Any information about your story may help others going through this. Thank you!
