I had been thinking to do a piercing on my tongue. I thought that was original, nobody in my class did it. So five days ago I did it. I noticed that was big shock for my tongue, it has been swollen since then. My mom reacted strongly on this, but what is done is done. She says that I can earn some infection now. Is this true? I am 16 years old.

Unfortunately piercing always carries risks of infection, and even greater with mouth piercing. It can also cause breathing problems, speech impediments. There is also possible allergy danger, cyst formation. Since you already did it, please pay close attention to how you are cleaning the earring.Try not to inflame and shock tongue more than it already is.

Well,
How do you mean you noticed a shock on your tongue? What is a shock, to be exact? The swelling on the tongue is because your tongue is infected. Do you have any pain in your tongue? Have you noticed any bleeding or any kind of infection around the piercing in your tongue? Have you followed the instructions that you received when you were piercing your tongue? You have to know that you need to go to hospital now and that you need to do this immediately because things can get very complicated and you might have more pain in your oral cavity. This might affect your teeth as well.

All the best,
Nelie
