I am so glad I am not the only one going through this!!!!!! The swollen lymph node, my inablility to sing or even scream anymore, constant raspy voice (which is ok cause I like the sound of that), sore throat, post nasal drip causing cobblestoning, random metallic taste in mouth coming from only one side which 'oddly' started following my surgery, tightness in my neck and ringing in ears. Now after the last cold I have it seems the scarring has gotten worse and it looks to have keloids, I feel like I am constantly swallowing something. None of this was around before I had my tonsils out, I have had tests and talked to my ENT 4 times and I have seen a separate ENT and no one knows whats wrong. I talked to the surgeon and he said everything healed well. I can not tell you how horrible the pain on my right side was when it was healing and it has never been the same since that surgery. It has been nearly 3 years and I have found no relief. I am at my wits end and I am in dear old Alaska!!!!

I'm so happy to read this and know I'm not the only one. I got my tonsils removed 7 years ago and have never been the same. My right side often feels dried out and I feel like I have a big lump in the back of my throat. I have one lymph node that is constantly swollen. When I get sick the right side of my throat hurts so bad and it hurts in my ear. Every dr seems to think I'm fine, but I'm miserable!

Dang, I had my tonsil removed due to cancer 6 months ago. I just had a fiber optic laryngoscopy and actually could see my throat which looked healthy. Unfortunately, I too feel like I have a lump in my throat all the time. At times it feels like I am going to have trouble breathing or swallowing. I hope and pray you fiend relief. I have needed to go to 3 states to have surgeries, check-up and scoping done. I know it is frustrating and pray God helps you get the relief you need. If you do find a solution please share it. Thank you. Good luck!

I had my tonsillectomy in September 2015. The ENT strongly advised me to eat rough foods (carrots, toast, apples and anything coarse) after surgery to facilitate healing. No soft food for me. I have since healed but I noticed that my tongue feels like it's touching my upper mouth and the gap in my throat is smaller. My nose blocks and drips constantly, I have difficulty swallowing food and water and my words come out slurred like I'm drunk. Sometimes, I feel like I have acid reflux as I have the feeling that all the food is still lodged behind my throat. Sometimes I have difficulty breathing. I have gone back twice to the ENT who performed the surgery. Although at first he wouldn't want to admit that there's anything wrong, he finally told me that he will refer me for a second opinion after looking at the results of the scope. He also said that it's not going to heal because if I will heal, it should have happened a long time ago. That lifted my spirits (???)I'm still waiting for the referral to come through. I hope like most of the comments below, I will get over this.

I hope you see my message.... I had the SAME thing happen to me. It's been 7 months now, and I still have nightmares. I didn't get sent to another hospital though... but a surgeon traveled to me from an hour away to fix the bleed. I lost over half of my blood and needed multiple transfusions. I was in the hospital for 5 days. It was the most horrible experience of my life. I STILL have a strange feeling in my throat. It's like a tightness, but also makes me nauseous too. I'm so tired of it. I've had test after test and doctor after doctor try to tell me what's going on. My blood work is still showing high inflammation. And I have swollen lymph nodes in the area.

Hi. I relate to your post. I had my left tonsil removed two years ago and it constantly feels dry and has a scolded feeling. I find relief chewing gum but I'm distressed that this will never get better. I'm wondering if our saliva glands were damaged during the op. Have you improved at all?

wow i'm so glad i found this. i had my tonsils removed 2 months ago. i now have tissue on both sides of my throat that are tethering and connected to my tongue, left side worse then right. i constantly feel like i have something stuck in my throat. if you have ever had mozzarella cheese stuck in your throat while swallowing, that's what i feel every time i swallow. i'm always choking on food/drinks and coughing to clear my throat, which obviously doesn't work but is a habit now. my speech has also been affected by this, certain words come out wrong and is very embarrassing to me. if i say a word that starts with the letter L it actually sounds like a G....(love=glove). the ent that did the surgery recommended that i see a speech pathologist and take ant acid for 4-6 weeks. i havent seen the pathologist yet and debating on if i should because it is going to be a waste of a $50 copay each week. i know my speech is affected by this tissue blocking my throat that needs to be removed. so he says try that and if it doesnt help he will have to do surgery again. apparently the ent was stumped when he seen my throat and said it was something he hasnt seen. (he has been a surgeon for many years). he thinks that i will have to do the surgery again....im not looking forward to this...recovery was torture. does anyone know if this is something i could fight on payment for a second surgery? for hospital copay atleast?

thanks,
Desiree

Yes, please give the name of your Dr. I'm also having issues but it's been 2 months and 13 days so I will give it a year but I feel this tightness, dryness, lump feeling is also not going away. I'm confused why Our Dr's are not STRESSING to us about the scar tissue. If I'd had known. I wouldn't have had the tonsillectomy. Thanks for any information.

hey everyone im glad to see that i have some similar problems as of everyone else hopefully we can all get through this together - so im gonna try to map out what happned to me to see the best i can from the start of everything till now to the best of my memory. - so it started in aug of 2016 i was on vacation in florida after 2 days there i ended up getting sick came on like the normal flu anyone would get was sweating trying to sleep was coming in and out of being awake wierd dreams and my throat was killing me which lasted from 2nd day till the 7th day when i headed back home on the plane - as i got on the plain when we took off my ear hurt super bad was like screaming pain and could barely deal with it. got home next day went to the doctors for my ear and mentioned my throat at the time which i thought was a avg strep throat he looked didnt really say anything about it took my blood pressure which was supper high like 175 over 110 and looked in my ears and didnt say much about that either which is the only reason i went there in the first place he just harped on me for smoking which we all know dont need to go into detail about but he gave me a treatement and said i have the lungs of a 80 year old and i better quit now im only 27 and i do have asthma so he did give me a shot in my butt and some steroid pills didnt say much after that this was just a urgent care type of place so a couple of weeks went buy my ear finally popped but my throat was still on fire soons the steroids ended which was only 7 days so i looked up specialist doctors in my area for throat found one and went to see her she did a swab test for strep came back neggative and also a blood test for mono which came back negative which was 2 times of seeing her both times she gave me steroids higher dosages . found a new specialist which couldnt figurte anything out gave me steroids and amoxcisilin - found a sergeon/specialist looked at my tonsils that by this time have grown so large they were growing back into my throat which i was choking on them constantly and was in some serious pain he told me i should get them removed finally which is wat i wanted after dealing with it all by this time it was nov of 2016 he scheduled me for dec 15th i went got them removed the healing process when good as of exspected then comes the probelums ----i notised the side of my neck was swollen after 2 weeks of my surgery went back to the guy that did my surgery and he felt all around my neck for around 20 min checking for lumps which i forgot the spacific name of but the ones where if u have them u gotta get them drained but anyway he said everything feels good and its just a infection gave me some ib profin and more amoxacilin so im half way through that have 1 more week to go so now which is 1-12-17 i have a swollen neck on my right side and also 2 lumps that i can feel which i feel wernt there a week ago when i went and seen him so now im going back to see whats going on - my thought about this which i feel is the main cause to everything for me and maybe for all of you is - so a year before any of this i ended up falling and biteing my right side lip on the tissue on the iner side of it and crushed a gland went to the hospital to get it checked out which i had they ended up draining it 3 weeks later it came back made a appt with the dentist whent and got it checked out ended up being the wrong person to see said i had to see a oral surgeon - went back to see a oral surgeon on a spacific day only when he was in my area then they said i needed to see a soft tissue specialist not a "ORAL SURGEON" by this point i was getting super heated about the whole situation so i made a appt with him went and seen him and he said i should get it removed he said hed do it but it was 500 at the moment i didnt have any money constantly paying to see a doctor without insurance through this whole dentist stage so i ended up getting the money made the final appt with him to go get it done got there he looked at it and said it was healing on its own which i can still feel it in there to this day sometimes it still swells up i asked him if he thought it was cancerous and he said no so i honestly believe this is what caused the throat swelling and the tonsilitis i had - when i go back to my specialist in another 10 days im going to have a long talk with him on the whole situation i wanted to word everything out to see if there was any similarities or anything at all that we all share that could be the probelum ive read every post on this thread im with all of you u guys arnt alone

Will this help my scar tissue after my tonsillectomy 3 months ago. They're times I can't swallow n I about have a major panic attack n something in my throat. I don't know maybe it's tightness from my scar tissue. Yes I've seen my Dr twice n he said it is a Lil tight after he stuck that thing down my nose but other than that. I'm just desperate n will do anything to get rid of this feeling for the rest of my life. Any help would be so very appreciated. Paddy
