This sounds promising. The first time I got hives was as a child after being given Dristan. The few times I have tried to take antihistamines over the last 55 years have always produced hives.
IT HAPPENED TO ME I HAVE IRRITANT DERMATITS AND AFTER TAKING AN ANTIHISTIMINE MY RASH GETS MUCH WORSE. SO NOW I WILL TAKE NOTHING IN THE HOPES MY BODY WILL NATURALLY HELP THIS PROBLEM IN TIME
Have the same issue. No mater what med they switch to I get reaction.
I've been searching online for a thread about this hive reaction to antihistamines and just fund this. I guess its been over a year and I just had the most horrendous outbreak as I have been reading about other's issues with chronic itching and their success with antihistamines. I've scratched myself to scarring and lately it's been horrendous and bought some zertec. I took one not thinking about the 2nd Shingle shot I'd had the day before. WHAM! Chills, fever, muscle aches and the worst hives I can recall - HUGE plate size red inflammed round all up arms legs and back. I was sick for a full 12 hours and attribute that to the shot for the most part but cannot help but think the combination had overwhelmed my immune system.
I itch. I've been to several dermatologist and my endocrinologist doesn't even respond when I talk about the itching, the hives with antihistamines..nada. I've had skin biopsies done... i have low thyroid and believe it has a connection.
It has become a quality of life issue . I'm 65. Father had psoriasis which I continuously mention to the allergy doctors and dermatologists I've been do...no real understanding of the problem.

Hi. My doctor prescribed me singulair for hives. It works but can I find something over-the-counter that works the same?
I had the same thing happen which I used to be able to take Zyrtec when I had hives so I started Allegra 24 and a compounded triple nose spray and bam was hovered with hives and some welted! Today after joy taking either med gives calmed down until about and hour ago noticed some big welts in my right cheek on face
