I used to be a decent writer but now even this post is a challenge, along with everthing else I do. Extreme extreme extreme fatigue, short term memory loss, dizziness, concentration problems, my eyes seem to strained and red. Its the fatigue thats the killer. I'm just completely exhausted all the time. I'm sure my friends and family sense that something isn't right with me, but they just have no idea how hard it is for me to do anything. I've always been a pretty tough mf, but this is killing me. I've never had anything like this, it won't go away. I'm scared to death its never going to. If it doesn't my entire life is pretty much a wash. I guess I've had it for about 6 months and it has gotten worse. I have had some bloodwork testing for things such as mono, lymes, celiac, anemia, B-12, and probably some others. All the test results came back fine. And its not inner ear. I was going to pursue a GI doctor for a potential absorption issue, get my thyroid checked and get an MRI next. Apnea is a possibility but the affects seem to sudden and to dramtic. This may be a long shot, but there has been a sizable presence of West Nile in my area (Philadelphia Region), its worth a shot. Also I plan on experimenting with HGH levels and immunotherapy. This is one of the greatest challenges I have ever faced in my life, but damn if I won't fight this thing to the end.

ugh...seriously...I feel the same way. My dizziness started last week...and the strange thign is, its not really dizziness because there is no spinning sensation or anything like that...I just have this intense tunnel vision almost and the inability to concentrate when things are in motion. When I'm at home, not driving, I feel okay. For a few days I had woken up feeling dizzy and unable to balance properly. If I get these spells when I am driving my head gets hot and my hands get cold and clammy. Nothing looks real to me...as if maybe my glasses are the wrong perscription or something. I had flu-like symptoms and sinus pressure until yesterday and those symptoms went away...but the vertigo still persists. I'm thinking that I have an inner ear infection or some sort of virus. So maybe I should just wait it out?? I read online that it could take up to 2 weeks for the vertigo to completely pass. So hopefully thats it. I'm only 20 years old, so we can pretty much rule out problems like stroke. if anyone has any suggestions on what this may be or what I should do next, let me know. =)

I have experienced similiar symptoms twice. The first time, believe it or not was because where I worked. I would come home with a killer headach, tired and usually fell asleep. While at work I would stand up and almost black out. Other people where not feeling very well at my place of employment either, so our safety guy did a air quality test. The results where black mold, Formaldehyde and other not so nice things. After searching the web I found they call it toxic building syndrome...I know the word syndrome conjurs up negativity, but once I left the building for several weeks. I felt better.
Now I experience the symptoms because I have a upper back and neck injury from being thrown from my horse. The chiropractor works wonders, but I have to keep going back. After a several sessions I feel great, but months later my upper back will hurt then my neck, the headaches start, the heavy head starts, dizziness, sometimes nausea....and so on.

Like a lot of you I suffer from the same symptoms, and to go from no one understanding what exactly it is youre going through, to seeing how many of us are going through similar things, it does bring some comfort. We're not crazy! Im a 23 yr old healthy male (no smoking, minimal drinking) and my symptoms came on all of a sudden. It started with extreme fatigue and headaches with slight lightheadedness and actually in my case hair shedding. To the docs i went! Only to be told it was anxiety and he gave me a packet of breathing exercises....well needless to say they didnt do much. A week or two later i suffered from an anxiety attack that put me in the e.r. cause it felt like i was having a heart attack without the chest pain or sudden death..The weird thing about it is that i wasn't doing anything, it was late at night and i was getting ready for bed then the feeling of passing out came over me, my veins were bulging in my arms and my heart was pounding faster than ever..scary stuff. Well it plained off so back to the docs i went..he gave me venlafaxine which made me feel so much worse so i stopped. Went back a little later- here take some Paxil...similar outcome. I constantly feel like I just got off a crazy roller coaster and taking antidepressants/anxiety meds is like someone handing you vodka, here drink this you'll feel better...
Ive had multiple blood tests, CT scan, neurologist visit, all of course came back..normal...ahh!! They checked for MS, Lyme, mono, thyroid, diabetes, the works, all fine..So like the many of you I find myself quickly becoming a doctor online trying to find answers. As of now ive been visiting the chiropractor and she adjusts mostly my neck and my back a little, hey feels good but i really dont see a difference to be honest. So i come out with a straighter spine no harm done, unfortunately also a thinner wallet with still no answers. At this point I personally think its stomach/intestinal related like maybe parasites or fungal maybe. I set up an appointment with the stomach doc so ill update on that later. Also the dentist is a good place to check too. Dont be too quick to dismisss anything, wouldnt you give anything to be better again? I know I would. I always tell myself to stay strong, stay positive. We all know that this thing sucks the life out of us but try and keep a positive frame of mind. If it is stress/anxiety, stressing out about it will only make it worse. I truely sympathize with all of you and hope we'll all figure this thing out.
My present list of symptoms..Mostly lightheaded, fatigue, vision hazy/blurry but managable, muscle aches/weakness, hair shedding, stomach discomfort.

if your symptoms involve headaches, lightheadedness or face pain in any way, I'd encourage you to check out headaches.com -- I saw this dude and he diagnosed me. (After I'd seen about 12 other docs.) I haven't started treatment yet but I was pretty encouraged by the first visit.

Hi my name is Drew im 23 and just moved to nyc about 3 months ago! the 1st two weeks in i started to get very sick and i had to go see a doc. the told me that i had a bad sinus infection hooked me up to an iv and wrote me a Prescription for antibiotics. So since then i've been on a roller coaster ride of feeling good from antibodies then a week later feeling like death again. Then its back to the doc, back on antibiotics and it just keeps going and going and going, ahhhhh and im getting depressed, mean, and sad and being mean to my girlfriend and basically a general bad behavior. Which is not how i swing, cause normally im a very charming and nice guy. So i want to get back into my go getter ways! But my chronic symptoms keep persisting. They are bad headaches, dizziness, vision trouble, ear pain and sensitive hearing. loud noises make me sick to my stomach. Neck stiffness, sore throat, breathing touble, fatigue, loss of appitite, wieght loss, deppresion, over all weakness. Upper lip numbness and other random syptoms that randomly show up. Its getting old and i cant deal anymore i need help. I read that my problem might be wisdom teeth cause ive never had mine taken out. So im going to get it checked out. After that i'll check back in and see if thats the case. I'll be glad to take any suggestions.

Best, and thanks, Drew

Hi Drew, one thing you might want to look up is aluminum poisoning, or mercury poisoning... it sounds like you have a lot of the symptoms. I have had dizziness and fatigue, and I am seeing a doctor who is treating me for heavy metal poisoning and I am getting a lot better. I'm not saying that is exactly what is wrong with you, but it is worth looking into.. you might be being exposed to something toxic and not realize it. Hopefully that helps.

I have the same thing. I'm now 24, but ever since high school I have faced severe fatigue and general malaise, with nausea and the whole bit. My doctor and ear nose and throat doctor can find nothing wrong, and diagnosed me with anxiety. Of course I'm anxious! My life is slipping away! I'm trying the sudafed approach and cutting aspartame. I've been to a Chiropractor but didn't get too much relief. I'm just so glad to know that other people feel this way. I do have hypoglycemia, but my blood sugar is well managed and I check it often, so that's not it. Hoping I can find an answer!

Ok, I've had the symptoms explained for the past 2 years. I finally tried acupuncture and have made amazing progress. It takes 5-6 sessions to start feeling better but I have made tremendous progress. Find a great acupuncturist and stick with it. yes, Ive tried everything else...

Just a suggestion but I have the exact same symptoms as you have all mentioned, foggy head, confusion, fatigue, sickness and I am convinced its an allergy to salicylate, Im just about to start a food elimination diet but am 37 weeks pg at the moment and dont want to have a negative impact on baby by changing my diet yet! This was brought to my attention after years of searching for answers. Most doctors dont think about food allergies etc. Worth a look if you are all stuck......... do a search on internet for salicylates, not a lot of info at the moment.

Interesting reading...I had the dizzy thing in July. I know at least a dozen people who have had it. Many have gone through all the tests you folks are describing. I have been terribly fatigued the last four days and worry it is coming back. Mine left after two weeks. It's awful. Nobody is finding any help for this. Kind of creepy that so many people have this and nobody can help.

I've had this sort of symptoms on and off for ages and i recently had it reapper after a day out at thorpe park. I am almost certain its a psychological condition, especially if the symptoms include headaches, irritability, low mood, heart palpitations ect. which i think a lot of you have mentioned. These are all classic symptoms of anxiety/depression. I've been through the whole thing of having loads of test done and they all come back negative, Eventually i just conceded it was in my head and eventually it went away. This will only account for some of you tho, im sure some of you have a physiological disorder.

Guys,

I know exactly how you all feel. I have had these symptoms for just on 7 Years now. Im living in Ireland and have been for numerous test including, Inner Ear, MRI amongst others.

One of the things im looking into at the moment is Aspartme Poisoning. Has anyone looked into this?? Id be very interested to know if anyone one has had any success with the detoxification program that can be done to purify yourself from aspartme.

Let me know if you have. Any info would be greatly appreciated as i dont think i can do too many more years of this without loosing my mind!

hi all.....first of all, its heartening to see that this is a general problem...its actually the case that my mother has been suffering from such dizziness for more than 1 month now.....she says that while sitting or in a sleeping posture (or even while walking), there is no symptom..however, when she has to turn her head or move the neck, she gets this dizziness as if everything around is moving and shes in a boat or something....no headaches by lord's grace....we have seen a couple docs...and an ayurvedic massage practitioner.......one sent to a physiotherapist, someone called it vertigo..and yet another told it was a nerve in the neck....last month during 15th, I visited home and we had a family get-together.....she told that she felp perfectly fine on that day....then all of us siblings left on 16th and 17th, including my youngest sis. who started for her engineering studies and hence my mom was left alone in home for the first time..(of course my pop is there but hes a busy guy..all that businessman stuff and not particularly someone who speaks much...so not much emotional support u see....)....she had a long journey on car that day to drop my sis to her college and back home...ever since then, she has complained of this constant dizziness (which started prior to that but was temporarily relieved when we were all at home..)...so can this be coz of stress and loneliness ...i spek to her on fone everyday and was scared to hear her voice today...she felt depressed.....tomorrow she is visiting a neurosurgeon....please help......and my tribute to all of u who have withstood similar symptoms for months and years together...u guys are the strength of life and motivation for all of us....keep moving...god bless all...

I recently read about this in another forum. I have just made an appointment with the Vision Specialists of Birmingham Michigan.

Dr. Debby Feinberg began practicing Optometry in Oakland County in 1983.

Dr. Feinberg has been developing the field of Neurovisual Optometry. This area of specialization involves the diagnosis and treatment of neurological conditions (such as headache and dizziness) that have an optometric or visual cause. One of the primary neurovisual conditions that Dr. Feinberg has done pioneering work on is called Vertical Heterophoria, a condition where the eyes are misaligned, causing severe headaches and balance related problems.

SHE IS ONE OF ONLY 3 people studying this neurological condition.

I have had the symptoms for 6 years. Seen many doctors as you all have, but this seems to make sense. I asked her about the Sternocleidomastoid muscle and whether or not my eyesight can affect it as well. Symptoms of this strained muscle produce similar symptoms as well. (see below) She said EVERYTHING is related in the head. Eyes, Ears, Throat, Nerves, everything. Eye strain, poor posture. to much computing for long periods of time. Diet, Lack of exercise. Its all one big puzzle that needs to be put back together.

____________

Sternocleidomastoid (SCM) is the big ropey muscle that runs from the mastoid process (the rounded bump behind your ear) to the joint between collarbones and sternum at the base of your throat. This paired muscle pulls the head forward and down, and acts as a checkrein to prevent the head from falling backward.

What Goes Wrong

When the SCM is strained or shortened the muscle itself rarely hurts, no matter how stiff or tight it may be. Problems are referred elsewhere, to head and neck, ears, eyes, nose and throat. The astonishing laundry-list of pain and dysfunction includes severe dizziness and other neurological symptoms. These may be mistakenly diagnosed as migraine, sinus headache, atypical facial neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, arthritis of the sternoclavicular joint, ataxia, multiple sclerosis (MS), brain lesions, tumors, and other frightening conditions. As always, these possibilities should be eliminated through differential diagnosis. However, because of its intimate relationship with the brain stem and several nerves including the vagus nerve, the SCM can produce many neurological disturbances all on its own. One is a condition known as “postural dizziness” —- just walking around feeling dizzy and disoriented -— perhaps with a frontal headache commonly interpreted as “sinus” pain.

I have an appointment Oct 13. She said she'll know right away if I can be treated.
This gives me some ray of hope. Check out her work on their website. Its amazing that people who study the eyes haven't realized that this could be a problem.

I'll reply again after the appointment
