Hi Everyone! I started having dizzy spells in April of this year. They came on all of the sudden, and I went to my doctor, who told me I had fluid in my ears and to take Claritin-D, and it should resolve itself. The dizziness got a little less severe, and I thought it was going away, but it started to come back again a few weeks ago. Along with the return of the dizziness came 3 bad bouts of extreme fatigue, nausea, and a general sickly feeling, each bout lasting 2-5 days. I also have been feeling really mentally out of it. I went back to my doctor, who seemed mystified by my symptoms and didn't offer me any kind of explanation or help. To me it seemed like he thought I was making everything up. He did some bloodwork, and told me that if that came back normal, I would have to see a neurologist a month from now. Of course I was extremely frustrated, since I was feeling very sick and was unable to work.I have been reading from everyone's posts on this subject and i really feel for everyone! Especially those who have had this condition for years! God bless you. Anyways, I just got home from visiting another doctor. He was kind and compassionate, and seemed to know exactly what was wrong. In my case, this condition is due to a chronic infection, heavy metal toxicity, various food allegeries, bad nutrition, and some other stuff but he basically told me my immune system is not functioning properly so he is putting me on a special diet and detoxification regimen. I promise I will write again and let everyone know how it works out.I also know, from looking at this doctor's site and from talking to him, that there is another cause for dizzy spells. A nerve between the skull and the spine that is out of whack or something. His treats that kind of dizziness and vertigo, also, with a lot of success. I really, really hope that everyone finds a solution to their dizziness issues! and hopefully this sites are helpful....Like I said, I will write back and let everyone know how I am progressing!Bye for now....:-)

Hello, I just read your posts because I was looking for answers to exactly what you have going on. I'm SUDDENLY fatigued...so much that I almost fall asleep talking to people. I am constantly nauseated, hot, and just strange feeling. I was wondering if it could be dental fillings...or possibly mercury in the sushi? It all started when I started taking Calcium chewable gummy bears...they taste so good that I was eating 3-5 a day. I felt very strange, like I was poisoned or something. I stopped taking the calcium bears after about 4-5 days, and I felt better two days later. However, that feeling is back again. I've been eating a lot of sushi lately, and that is the only other thing I can think of that could be doing this.Does anyone else have similar lifestyles? I am SO scared and I do NOT want to live my life like this every day. I've had slurred words, ringing in my ear...and feeling like I'm about to go into a coma!Help...ANYONE!!!!!

I too have shared similar experiences and symptoms. Why even write them over and over. I enthusiastically read this forum weekly to find a post that contains the answer we all want to hear. There must be a common thread we all share together. It must be something.
I know my symptoms started soon after a bad case of viral flu including severe ear and neck pain. Once I was better, I had the dizziness and nausea, especially when I would watch TV at the gym while running on a treadmill. Then it was anytime I would go from looking down to looking up. Then it would occur when I would drive and quickly turn my head in another direction or even when there was a dip in the road.
I thought it might have been lingering ear infection symtoms. So I, like many of you, went to the doctor. An ENT. X-Rays showed I needed sinus surgery immediately, he said. WHAT! My sinus' had never given me problems. So I tried antibiotics for 6 weeks. No good. A month later, I gave in and had the dreaded nasal surgery. A horrible experience by the way. You know you may have made the wrong decision on a doctor when you WAKE UP during surgery and I hear him say "UH OH". True story. Anyway, I looked forward to that day when the "packing" gets removed from the nose. A week of sleepless suffering and difficulty breathing. It would all be worth it, right? WRONG. Symptoms continued. Very depressing.
Several months later, I went back to my family doctor. He was intrigued as well as I. As he looked for an answer, he finds I have a heart murmur. Recommends an echocardiogram just to be on the safe side. Well to my surprise, the test reveals something, a spot on my heart valve. I'm literally entered into a hospital the same day. WHAT? This is crazy. Freaked my wife out, my kids.
IV's of powerful antiboitics were thrust into me. Tests couldn't reveal what they wanted to see so they had to numb my throat and view my heart from the inside with a camera. This had to be the cause, right? WRONG. But I did manage to rack 5 days of hospital costs.
The one thing I had noticed while in the hospital, the intense antibiotics seemed to help my symptoms for about 7-10 days after I had checked out. But they came back.
I then read about some dizziness forums and thought I had finally figured out what the problem was. Vestibular Nueropathy. Had to be. It is often triggered by a viral infection, in males 35 years and older. So now that I had dianosed myself, I went to Northwestern in Chicago. Tops in ENT and Nuerosurgey. He perscribed the basic tests for inner ear. Even some hi tech visual tests. I was excited, it had to come back with some answer, right? WRONG. Passed them all. WHAT? This is crazy.
He then asked me if I snore. My wife answered that and said YES!. He thought about apnia as a cause. So I went to have a sleep apnia test. I did find out my heart was stopping anywhere from 10-29 seconds 265 times per night. WHAT? This had to be the cause. Once I get my sleep apnia machine, I'll sleep better and lose all my fatigue and eye strain etc.
Well, you guessed it, my snoring is controlled, I'm slleeping better, but of, I still have the symptoms.
Then it was time to give my money to the Chiropratic industry for a while. Which I did. I thought his theory that a nerve might be pinched was legitimate, but to no avail.
And lastly, went back to Northwestern, he then perscribed physical therapy. So I yanked and stretched rubber bands, did silly eye exercises and walked down halls while looking to the right and left. This is very expensive by the way. But to no avail.
The industry has failed me as it has all of you. I await the magic poster with the answer to all our questions and prayers. I am going to try some peoples suggestions on caffeine and art. sweetners. I think there is something there. I DO KNOW THIS, I definately have INCREASED SYMPTOMS THE DAY AFTER DRINKING. It can take up to 48 hours to feel the way I did before I drank. Can this be a link to blood vessels in the head expanding thus intensifying symptoms. Or expanding something that may be squeezing the pinched nerve more than usual.
In addition, I am a Graphic Designer who sits in front of a computer 8-10 hours a day. I have done so for 20+ years. Is this a common link between peers here?
Venting like this helps, my symptoms have been occuring since 2002. Knowing there are others like me helps as well. But I need answers dammit.

I've come across an interesting possibility for the cause of my symptoms, which at this point are generally as follows:- lightheadedness / dizziness / slight nausea- headaches- face pain (forehead and between eyes)The potential cause is a strain/disfunction of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, which runs from behind your ear to essentially the collarbone. According to one website I found, problems with this muscle can lead to the following:"When the SCM is strained or shortened the muscle itself rarely hurts, no matter how stiff or tight it may be. Problems are referred elsewhere, to head and neck, ears, eyes, nose and throat. The astonishing laundry-list of pain and dysfunction includes severe dizziness and other neurological symptoms. These may be mistakenly diagnosed as migraine, sinus headache, atypical facial neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, arthritis of the sternoclavicular joint, ataxia, multiple sclerosis (MS), brain lesions, tumors, and other frightening conditions."The website says it is common to strain this muscle during martial arts such as judo or aikido. Personally, I did brazilian jiu-jitsu for a few years immediately prior to my symptoms, and it involved a lot of chokes, neck pressure, etc. I am going to be evaluated by a doctor that I found who seems to be competent in these issues. I don't really understand how straining a muscle could cause all of the dizziness, disorientation, lightheadedness, etc. that I am experiencing . . . but I'm going to explore it.

I felt better right away, just in the first few days, the nausea disappeared, but I was still very tired. (I had been having dizziness along with bouts of EXTREME fatigue, along with nausea, weakness, and a general sickly feeling. It was really interfering with my job, since I do a lot of manual labor, I was so weak it was a struggle just to make it through the day.) After about 5 days or so of taking the vitamins, and the metal detox stuff, I started to wake up.... and started to feel normal again. The dizziness really started to subside as I began to feel better. I have noticed that I still have it when I move my head certain ways, but it is very, very mild compared to what it was- I can tell it is fading and going away, and im VERY pleased about that.
It has been about 2 weeks I have been on this regimen, I see the doctor once a week so he can check my progress and do some other stuff having to do with food allergies that I have. Im not gonna explain it, because it would take too long. Im just gonna tell everyone that I have been doing what he has told me to do, and im totally getting better. Im really relieved the tiredness has gone away because it was so debilitating.
So, if there are people out there who are still suffering with what I have, there is hope. I put my doctor's website in an earlier post. And I hope and pray that everyone else gets better also! peace and love

To get the metals out, I have been taking 3 homeopathic remedies. One for mercury, one that is called Bauxite, which is for aluminum i think, and another one that is for heavy metals in general. They are liquid and you just take a few drops of each a day. They are made by Professional Complementary Health Formulas.

The symptoms being:
-constant nausea
-dizziness
-loss of appetite
First they thought it was an inner ear infection and was put n anti biotics. They helped for a while but then they said the infection was gone and took me off them. It was okay for a few days but got worse. I was put on a drug called Stemzine which helped for a while but after an awful bout of nausea was taken off it and put on Maxolon. It doesn't help that much. I've had blood tests, ultra sounds and a CT scan and all have come up normal. They've since put me on Somac and I've been taking Gaviscon (acid reflux preventing stuff) but still no better. I was okay yesterday but last night had a horrible relapse and have been in bed all day.
What do I do?

All of the blood tests I mentioned can tell you if your parathyroid is healthy or has a tumor, if you cave cancer or congestive heart and/or renal failure.
Plus a plethora of other things. Don't wait! Do you have bone pain, muscle twitches or any thing else tell your Doctor.
Good luck and God's blessings. Put your energy toward being persistant in getting a diagnosis.
