Hello, i am only thirteen years old and have been getting this since i was around five. i had never told anyone until a couple of months ago, i told my mom. She looked it up and seeing all of your stories and descriptions shocked me. There really is no way to decribe it other than: the fast feeling in my brain. I have noticed that alot of you have been asking for answers on the cause of this 'fast feeling'. and of course my mother and i would also like to be informed. We started out simple: By searching on doctors website and found that the name for this is 'Alice in wonderland syndrome [AIWS]'. Except that AIWS is triggered more more at spacial disfigurations, rather than the 'fast feeling' but this fast feeling is still categorized as AIWS. We then went to my peditrician who told us that AIWS can be an effect of many different things; such as brain tumors, epilepsy, hypoglecemia, etc.

We then made an appointment to get an EEG (Electroencephalogram) test; to test for any strange activity in my brain; to search for symptoms of a brain tumor or epilepsy - since i have never had any seizures of any kind they said it was very unlikely that this was the cause - The test came out completely positive, which means all my brain activty was normal. A few weeks ago i got an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) to further test for anymore strange brain activity. This test was also positive.

While getting my MRI my mom talked to one of the brain specialists about AIWS and she said that another cause was the herpesvirus, which i have. In a month or so i have my final visit with the nuerologist. Who is going to tell me exactly what is goign on in my brain. Since that doctor said it is related to the herpesvirus, though, i have been alot more relieved, in hoping that was the cause. I will be sure to tell you guys what i hear from the nuerologist. Thanks (:

Ok now i feel so much better when i was younger it occured more often than now i remember it happing about 3 days out if the week now its about twice a month. Not only do i get that feeling like everything around me is moving at a great speed but i also feel that noises are much louder and sometimes i can hear a faint high pitch noise. These episodes for me last around 10-15 minutes and im 20 years old. I used to ask people before and they would think in crazy.

everything with Sara is up and down. I don't know which l am at the moment. We go back to paeds in 2 weeks and am waiting for an appoint with Dr Lindsay Smith from Monash. He's said to be a very good Paeds neurologist. EGG results should be back by now but no one will tell me anything. This attach of Sara's has been going for 15 days now, it is getting better as the days go on but l don't know if it's the meds or that this cycle is coming to a close. Paeds started her on Tegratol. We are on day 10 of the meds. I was hoping that after 2-3 days, hewer symptoms would alll go but they haven't. He man stomping round her head and the seeing and hearing of numbers has going but the rest are still here. The big and small - distorted vision, and the fast and slow. The paeds is still sure it's occipital epilepsy but he is not saying if AIWS is playing aby part in it now.

same im 14 and i get these all the time about once a week i got one this morning ive had them ever since i can remember! i call them car crash moments. because my ever first memory as a young child (about 4) was a severe car crash which happened suddenly when a truck hit us when my family pulled out of our driveway. i was stuck in the car for hours with no idea what was going on (i was the only one conscious in the vehicle). when firemen eventually broke into the car i was in serious shock. i took me about 2 days in the hospital to recover. i believe i suffered for the next 3 years extreme post-tramatic disorder and never told anyone. i believe that when i was trapped inside the car i must of suffered from a extremely high dose of adrenaline making everything fast. i believe that this thing that we all get must be flashbacks of times we have been under extreme pressure whether we remember the event or not. i seem to have the same kind of feeling as the Topic starter. its weird i don't think its life threatening but it might be the same kind of disorder that war veterans suffered from???

Same thing for me. Its happened as long as i can remember. Its not unpleasent, just kinda weird. Ive read a few of these forums today and it seems like it happens to a lot of people and everyone that tells a doctor about it just dont get answers. Ive also read a few comments from people who think its some kind of super power, this is funny to me because thats exactly what i thought when i was a kid, even goin as far as to try to move things with my mind (when it was happening) or trying to do things to see if im actually moving super fast. Haha. I realize now that its probably not a super power. The only thing ive seen that may make any sense at all is something to do with low blood sugar, but im just thinking that cause it just happened and i happen to be quite hungry right now. Some people are saying Alice in Wonderland syndrome but I never really fealt anything was larger or smaller just that my mind was moving very quickly and there was a voice or many voices talking very fast. It is very hard to describe the feeling. I also get motion sickness quite easily so i wonder if thats related. Someone mentioned the inner ear but its not really a dizzy feeling just a lot of comotion when there shouldnt be.

I dont think ill ever know what it is, but i dont think its harmful or a symptom of anything serious. Some people seem very worried about it. I wonder if theyre even feeling the same thing as me. Ill never know I guess. Ive also had panic attacks in the past and i can tell you it is a very different feeling. The "fast feeling" to me is almost calming and when its happening i just go with it and it usually stops after a couple minutes. Its funny to read other peoples interpetation of it cause ive never told anyone about it and its kind of nice to know other people feel it too.

Woooowwww im so glad somebody else knows what im talking about!!!!  Ive had these experiences almost all my life and i used to get really scared!  im 14 right now and lately they have been less vivid and scary but they still happen quite often. I get that strange feeling that everyone is yelling including myself, and that everything has a sense of urgency to it. Ive always wanted to know what they are and what causes them... by the way i think i have also had some anxiety and panic attacks at least once. if anyone knows anything about this please tell me!

Hello,

I’m 16 years old and I just registered on this forum just to tell everyone how gets these “fast feelings” that I went to see a neurologist….I explained to them that I have this feeling usually when I’m alone that my ears ring and then it stops your breathing picks up and heart…noises become extremely loud and you can depict every noise. Every movement is fast and it last around 10 minutes at least for me. It happens every few months….They said that the think its seizers not normal seizers but yes seizers…they say these seizers are caused by stress and anxiety. So if you’re going through the same thing I would get help

I AM REALLY ECSTATIC AT THE MOMENT TO READ OTHER PEOPLE EXPLAINING MY FEELING I HAVE HAD SINCE A CHILD.  MY HUSBAND IS THE ONLY PERSON TO KNOW BOUT THIS AND HES VERY SUPPORTIVE..I RECENTLY SHARED WITH MY MOTHER. SHE DOESNT QUITE KNOW HOW TO TAKE THIS INFO.  I LITERALLY THOUGHT I WAS PSYCHOTIC. WHEN IT HAPPENS (GOTTEN LESS OFTEN AS I GET OLDER IM 31) BUT IT STILL HAPPENS RANDOMLY..I NEVER KNOW WHEN BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS YES ITS A SENSE OF URGENCY LIKE TO HURRY UP..KINDA SCARY FEELING AND I FEEL AXIOUS.. ITS LIKE THE FEELING OF VOICES BUT NOT CLEAR VOICES.. I NEVER COULD UNDERSTAND THIS..I JUS DEAL WITH IT..AMAZING OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAME FEELING..IM SCARED TO TALK TO A PROFESSIONAL..FEAR THEYLL THINK IM CRAZY.. I FUNCTION NORMALLY EVERYDAY..LIVE A NORMAL LIFESTYLE..JUS DEALING WITH THIS ONE ODDITY

It actually happened to me last week, and it almost feel like a brain overload! All my thought that I have ever had come rushing into my brain and I try to force them out, but nothing happens! It is so weird. i really want to learn more.
