My fiance, has been having the same thing happen to him. Before I found this article, I was searching and searching and almost at a loss to find anything. Normally I am very good and searching out and finding anything on the internet. But this, I don't even know how to word it. According to what he was saying to me, he feels like his brain is "moving fast", like its overworking itself or something. While everything else is going normal pace. He said he feels like he's talking fast and things like that. If anyone has any information on this, it would be MUCH MUCH appreciated. Please reply back soon!!! And good luck with your search Mark.

I am so glad I'm not the only one that experiences this. This also happened to me frequently when i was a child but now i that i'm 19, i get it like twice a year. It always starts when it's quiet. Then I notice every sound gets louder. The fan seems to have a loud noise even the clock is loud, my voice is loud. Then everything is moving fast. I panic but my heart is not racing. It's just very disturbing. Every move that I make seems to be at a fast pace even though I try to slow it down. It looks like I'm angry or mad when typing on the keyboard or writing on a paper but I know I'm not. It lasts for about 5 minutes. I calm myself down by listening to music. Really, why is that happening?

I'm 19, I get migraines, and I've had these since I was little. Used to think of them as night terrors until they started happening during the day. Having almost one a week now that I'm on Topamax for migraines. They are getting more intense as well.

My story is pretty much the same. Ever since I can remember this has happened(age 25). Out of the blue I feel as if everything is moving very fast, and feels as if things that I touch feel a lot smaller. Use to happen all the time when I was little, now just every once in a while. Would really like to know what causes this. I have looked at ages, they seemed to be so close together and wondered if it might have been something in a vaccination or something that we had to get or take when we were younger. If everyone would post there birthday we could eliminate that first. Birthday 5-14-1987

I began feeling this way since I was probably about 7 years old, I didnt know how to describe it but I hated it. I'm 17 years old right now and I get them probably about once a month or so and even though I know how to control it, its still pretty difficult to deal with. As you guys are saying, I feel like my perception is warped and I cant help but feel like everything around me is moving quickly, rushed almost and my thoughts in my mind are so quick and overlapped, it sounds almost like I'm in a really crowded mall where you can hear peoples voices but not really make out what theyre specifically saying.
When I look down at my hands, which is what I tend to do when this is happening, i feel almost disconnected to my body, like my hands are not my hands.
What I do to make it better is to focus on one thing, one single thing. Usually a word that I see somewhere and start to focus on it as hard as i can and begin to sound out the word as slowly as possible, when i do this i feel like its countering the fast pace of everything around me and it calms me down a bit.
I would just love to know exactly what it is so that I can just be at peace with it.

I am 15, and I used to get this feeling a lot when I was a kid. My sister experiences it as well. We both have anxiety, but I don't think that is why it occurs. It sometimes happens in very calm situations. In others it occurs in mini panic attacks. The last one I had happened in my Math exam, and it lasted for about 1-5 minutes. It never usually lasts long. I ended up walking up and telling my teacher what was happening and he had no idea how to help me, but he gave it his best. I was feeling better as I walked back to my seat. But then again it started. I got completely frustrated and fed up. I finished the questions and handed it in, not caring what I got wrong. When it happens, everything seems like it is going in hyper speed. Things seem louder and I can't focus. I find walking and talking with people help, I don't know why. A few people here say thinking about it in slow motion helps, but for me thinking about it makes it worse. The best is for distractions; like a story or having a conversation with someone.

What I think is important is to remain calm, I have had these for as long as I can remember (I'm 20) and I think that if it were anything serious then it would have manifested in a more serious way by now. What I've begun to do recently is not look on it as something to fear or be apprehensive about but to approach it with a curious mind. This is a peculiar state of mind which some of us feel, I assume it is only a few though, and it allows us to see things and experience them differently so it is something we should view as just interesting and unusual. Also it's not all bad for example the improved hearing, I don't know about all of you but I don't have very good hearing, in a club or bar I can find it difficult to talk to people simply cos I don't know what they are saying, even if there are a lot of people talking I struggle, so to occasionally experience what it is like to have a very good sense of hearing for me is actually a great thing.
All the best brothers & sisters.

Well, i took my 5 year old to neurologist. She is also seeing a psychologist. Anyway the neuro says she is suffering from migraine due to anxiety. He reckons the anxiety is due to school.

Both the psychologist and myself do not agree with the cause of anxiety as she loves school, loves her teacher and the other kids. And she cries when she can't go to school.

Basically, ill back at square one as l have one Dr saying migraine, and the other one saying autoimmune encephalitis.

ONe doctor saying, no more tests or anything and the other one wanting to schedule MRI, EEG etc

I've had the same "fast feeling" happen to me since I was a little girl. I don't know what brings it on, it hadn't happened to me for quite some time and now it seems to be happening more... and I'm 27. It usually happens when I'm laying down to go to sleep, which doesn't make any sense to me because I'm completely relaxed. I would love to find out what causes this.

I am 14 years old and it hasn't happened in a while but it just happened its been gone for a while now but it lasted a good 5 or 10 minutes. I really don't like the feeling it started happening when I was listining to music I try to stay away from the songs I remember causeing it.it started ever since I can remeber. I've wondered if there was something wrong with me I don't want to tell my parents because I think they might think I'm crazy. I want to know what causes it and if I am going crazy. Will it ever be perminate? Is it normal? And should I tell my parents? I'm so happy to read this because it let's me know I'm not alone.
