Thank god, its nice to hear other people know the feeling. I am still a kid and It terrifies me, I get a dream about something happening with two strangers, always the same people and I can tell they are acting and talking normal however in my mind its too quick for me to understand, sometimes i need to just close my eyes and try and calm down, It gets extremely scary and I dont understand why, good to know that it will wear off.

I have also experienced this fast moving sensation and mostly during childhood before going to sleep. It would often be accompanied by the Alice in wonderland syndrome of everything being far away or small.
I am currently reading a book called, "opening the doors of perception," by Anthony Peake and he cites the case of a man, aged 66, who suddenly had this fast moving sensation non-stop. It was discovered that he had a brain tumour and subsequently died still having this fast moving perception. The technical name for it is 'Zeitraffer-elebnis phenomenon.' the case is cited on pages 179-181 of the previously mentioned book. I'm not trying to freak anyone out by saying it might be a tumour. It is suggested that this phenomenon might be originating in the pre-frontal cortex of the brain. It perhaps is more pronounced for some people during childhood because of ongoing brain development in that particular area. (I'm no expert, BTW, just relaying some information.)

My 11 yr son is having anxiety issues and it got me thinking about what I used to experience. I started Googling and landed here and now I know I'm not the only one to go through this!! I'm 46 now and can thankfully say I haven't experienced this since my twenties. Love the name for it - describes it very well, "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome". I think it was stress related for me as it started as a young child (parents separated etc) and reached it's peak when I was in college. My heart goes out to you all, it can be very scary when you are having an episode. Mine would happen when I was alone and the best "cure' was to be around other people.

i had the fast running feeling in my head from about 12 to 27, gradually got less. mine started often when alone out walking or just as I was In bed and as previous answer said, the best way to get out of it was by talking to other people which seemed to bring me back to the real world......doctor said 40 years ago it was prob my hormones....

Things seem to be moving fast and people taking fast around me started with me on age 38. Very strange feeling. I've never taken drugs or alcohol of any sort, no injuries, nothing. It just shows up several times a year. When i meditate it goes away and everything gets back to normal.
Maybe our nervous system is over stimulated for some reason.

This has happened to me when I was a teenager and I always thought I was going crazy and it scared me. Now my teenager says he is experiencing the same thing. He just told me and it freaked me out because when this happens to you its something you do not forget. Everyone was talking fast and things were going fast in my head for me but when I asked people around me if things were fast they would tell me no it was normal. I will ask dr next visit and keep you all posted I have never told any dr because I was scared they would think me crazy. now seeing this thread I feel more confident in asking. thanks all for sharing this experience.

I also get this, I used to only get it when I was falling asleep, but now I only get it when I'm deep in thought like in class, or when I see my abusive ex and have a panic attack.
