This has always been one of my biggest questions growing up. I am 19 now but I remember even in my dreams having this issue, then waking up to it still happening. I would cry, cry, and cry to my parents when I was little because I just wanted whatever was happening to stop. My mom was walking down the hallway but it seemed so fast I had to yell at her to please not move. They thought I was dreaming but I was fully awake. It always occurred at night in my sleep but now it occurs during the day, usually when I am focused on a task and there is only one background noise or none. They do not scare me anymore, either that's because I have gotten use to them or maybe they aren't as vibrant as they were when I was younger. Anyways, I have been looking all over the internet trying to figure out if anyone has a clue to what this may be. I only know one other person personally that has this issue and that is my uncle. When I told him his eyes got huge in shock that he heard someone say they have the same unusual problem.

Never thought to search this, but I'm surprised now that I have at how similar all these stories are to what my 11-year-old son has been trying to explain to me.
He has nightmares often and wakes in the middle of the night in a horrible panic. He was prescribed an anxiety medicine, yet the episodes have continued and even worsened.
It's becoming increasingly difficult to calm him down.
When I ask him what started it or what he was doing when it started, he just says everything started moving really fast or, like last night when it happened, we turned the TV on to help distract him and he said they were talking way too fast on TV.
The fact that these episodes of panic are very stressful to him throws him into asthma attacks.
It's all been very baffling to me, but now that I've read these comments, I have a better understanding and will be making an appointment to see his pediatrician sooner than originally scheduled.

Mehhh... I don't think the "feeling fast" thing is AiWS. I read up on it and it is definitely not the same at all to what I feel during my "feeling fast" episodes. AiWS could, however, apply to some of the other people who made posts on here about their symptoms but it's not the same as the "feeling fast" descriptions made by the others.

I have it right now. Feel like things are going super quick and slightly out of breath or twitchy hands, eyes really wide. And the urge to scream. Really odd. Also sometimes along with it the feeling that you are sinking into the floor. :/

I'm amazed that I'm not the only one experiencing this feeling. I call "fastforward" because it feels like someone suddenly hit the fastforward button in my head. I'm 23 and I drive everyday, and it always happens when I driving, which is very dangerous. I have to pull over to the side and wait a few minutes till it stops.

Okay so I get those "episodes" as well and I searched and searched and apparently this is linked to Vertigo. Hopefully that answers some
Questions and concerns!

I kind of get the same feeling, had it just now a minute ago and felt the urge to google because it freaks me out. Not only does everything feel fastforward, all sounds are much more intense and heavier, and so is touches. I was playing computer when it appeared and rushed to my bed to lay down and relax. Tried calling my gf on facetime but the beeping was just too much for me. I'm 18 now and this occurs maybe like once a year.

It's madness that I've only just decided to looks this up after 30 years. I'm having one of these episodes as I type this. The phone in my hand feels like it weighs a tonne. My thumbs feel like they're enormous slabs pounding the little keyboard letters. My inner voice is crazy fast, it feels like all my actions are at light speed but I'm consciously aware that I'm moving completely normally. I feel incredibly alert and "zoned in" to everything around me.

I used to swim a lot as a kid and I would get these episodes really frequently during training. I've never felt worried about them they're just so bizarre! I also find they happen when I'm concentrating on things that involve fine motor skills. The blood sugar thing would make sense as I've been at my daughters sports day all morning and haven't eaten a thing. Ive also been really busy lately and have been skipping meals, i've had about 4 of these over the past month. Where as once or twice a year would be the norm.

It's good to see how many other people get this as i've never really told anyone, all this time it was my weird little secret. For other people that experience this I wouldn't panic, I've never had any negative effects afterwards and they always just fizzle out after 5 minutes.
