Allicin is an ingredient found in foods from the lily family and it can cause upset stomach. Foods in this family include onions, leeks, garlic, shallots and chives. . Allicin is destroyed or at least weakened by cooking or processing so this might be good solution. If you know that you are feeling sick after eating onions you should avoid this habit or at least consume onions in any other way but raw. You didn’t mention do you feel sick when it is cooked but if you do than there are only few things you can do to calm your upset stomach. You can try consuming baking soda and water. Mix one teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and sip it slowly. This should help upset stomach for a lot of people. You can use this mixture as a remedy but don’t do it too often. You can also try with a peppermint tea. This herb is known for soothing upset stomach. And you can try with ginger ale which you can buy in the store instead of making your life more complicated and trying some old recopies originated from China. If this doesn’t help you can try with some medication but if you are going to drink medication every time when you are eating onions maybe you should consider is it worth.
