im glad to read your post (not that im glad about your condition but because i have the same case). i want to sue the hospital, the doctors who made a mistake and im the one suffering now! i wonder after the removal of your stent, the pain you are experiencing in the kidney and back lasted for how long? how did you cope up with it? i thought in the start its due to gas but i notice its consistent palpitating pain. im worried now. would sincerely appreciate if you can provide me some feedback. i hope you are well now. thanks

Hello, I apologize for the delayed response. I wish you well. My pain lasted for several years after the re-implantation and I hope that does not happen to you. I still have phantom pain every once in awhile. You will heal...

I am sorry this occurred to you.. I hope your surgery goes well. The most pain was from the stents. It will get better, at least for me it did, but it did take awhile...physically and mentally. Stay strong. Keep me posted how you do and feel free to chat back.

Hello, I am sorry this occurred to you as well. I am mended now..it did take awhile though. I posted to someone else that my surgury was done in Minnesota. I talked to many lawyers and no one would take the case. Bad medicine, bad result.

I went in for a hysterectomy.Doctor stitched closed by right ureter tube.10 days later went in for emergency surgery.Stents were not working well, make along story short.Doctor had to go in a cut the stitched section out and reroute one tube to the back of my kidney and tie off the stub. Then attached by kidney directly to my back fat to keep it secure. Then after that i developed a complete bowel obstruction. This one almost took my life.Doctor repaired the damage and then developed a second obstruction. Very tough going but i lived. Tries sueing the Doctor but because i signed the paper understanding risks i lost my case

I am having this exact same issue. I am going in this Monday for them to attempt to put stent in, but it has been almost a month since surgery and three weeks since leaking started. I feel like I have gotten the run around by surgeon. How did yours turn out?

I was discharged from hospital and told i was fine only to be admitted the next day into hospital with urine coming out my vagina. I had a operation where the put the remaining uretea in my bladder and put a stent in. I had the stent removed 2 weeks ago and still in alot of pain. I just had my hysterectomy a week ago and was told a stent was put in my ureter as a precaution but it's uncomfortable...is that normal? I was told it will be taken out in 3 months.

I found them to be very uncomfortable... Sorry :-( Precaution? hmm.... So they must have come close or actually nicked one of your ureters ? Did you read your surgical report ?

After reading more of these post, it's a shame this has happened SO MANY times! My doctor said by doing my partial hysterectomy laparoscopic it reduced any complications. I get there is risk in every surgery but... i'm almost 10 years since my ureter was reattached. I have re-flux of the kidney (Right) and having to get my ureter reattached again. I have medical bills in the 20's of thousands due to this Dr mistake. I don't know why it isn't a law to run dye after each laparoscopic surgery! Good luck to all of you newbies out there! Ps... I'm the original Guest who wrote above a year ago. This all started in 2008 and STILL going on!

I went in for routine hysterectomy and bladder sling surgery 0n 3/15, 10 hours later i was told my Right ureter was cut and had to be repaired. I was sent home with a foley cath, and some kind of stent in my kidney. The pain was so unbearable I ended up back in the ER with a fever chronic abdominal pain and pelvic pain. I was readmitted the foley was causing a urine infection and had to be replace. Only then I was informed by the Urologist that not only was my ureter cut, it was completely removed and replanted, I have the op report, no where that was indicated, when I contacted the gyn office to see her for a follow up since I was never given one only to the urologist I was told she was on vacation and I would be called for an appt, which never happened. I did contact an attorney who informed me however unfortunate this situation is its very common and I didn't have a case, I moved to another state and didn't pursue the matter, till I having severe abdominal and pelvic pain, found a mass in my pelvis, my bladder was so damaged, thank god for the surgeons at Hershey Medical Center was able to repair all the damage that the previous doctors did were I can have a decent life. My fight is still not over but at least I found doctors who actually give a damn.
