I've had sporadic bleeding/spotting for the past 4 years.  My doctor has changed my birth control at least once a year or more, I took a 4 month break from birth control all together, I've had a uterine biopsy, ultrasound (2 fibroids were found) and the spotting continues.  I will get about 7-10 days of no spotting after my period.  After that, I will usually take 2 pills a day at least twice a week to control the bleeding.  It's never overly heavy, sometimes doesn't require a tampon, but the bleeding if persistent.

So my nurse practitioner recommended a uterine ablation.  Another doctor I saw recommended a hysterectomy, but I'd like to avoid that at all cost.  After doing web research though, the ablation seems most successful for heavy heavy periods, but I haven't found any examples for persistent spotting.  Any opinions if it would be applicable?
