I so do not recommend this surgery.  I had the procedure on Friday July 13th and have been in the hospital 4 times in 3 weeks.  When I came out of surgery, I was in so much pain that they sent me to the hospital.  Went home after a few hours of pain meds.  Monday was back to the doctor and he gave me more pain medicine.  Tuesday back to the doctor again where he sent me to the hospital.   I was there from Tuesday-Friday and they didn't find anything.  Friday night I went back to the hospital and was there until Tuesday.  The first time I was in the hospital I was given too much fluid causing fluid around the heart and lungs.  Still didn't find my source of pain.  Went back to the doctor 2 days later, she scheduled a ultrasound for the next week......UGH.  When I did my ultrasound, they found out that my uterine wall was filling up with blood, what they told me about it you ask?  There is nothing that can be done.  They have to wait and let it run its course and it will eventually go away.  Thats ridiculous to me.  So if you are thinking about ablation, I would think hard about it.

I had the surgery in 1999 and have bled very little since, it's been the best thing I've ever done--up until Feb of this year! I began having pain on my right side each month after my period, still very slight bleeding each month until July when I didn't have a period at all. In Aug I had normal light flow but it lasted 5 days instead of the usual 1 or 2. I am in discomfort all the time but during my period I am in PAIN on my right front side. I went for my yearly gyno visit in March and everthing was fine, now 28 dr's visits later, one ER visit, two CT scans I went back to my gyno yesterday and he believes I have a clot that is blocking the flow and blood may be backing up in my fallopion tubes and uterus. I am supposed to call him as soon as the pain comes back and he will schedule a vaginal ultrasound that day to see what is going on. He says this is an easy fix by giving me a low dose of birth control pills every day  which will stop the bleeding all together therefore take away my pain. I pray this is what is wrong, my father died of colon cancer at 32, I am 45 and have an appointment tomorrow as a consult for a colonoscopy--praying my pain isn't from this! Hope we all get answers very soon!

Yes I had the ablation done back in 2005, it is the worst procedure ever!! I loved the fact I did not get my period but dealing with the pain the past year and few months have been horrible. I did a bunch of research and found post endometrial ablation syndrome. I did have my gyn look at my ultrasound and she got me in right away to see her. She said my reseach paid off cause that is exactly what it is. I asked what will fix this pain her response was hysterectomy since the blood had not place to go it will keep filling up. I look like I did when I was 5 months pregnant that is how disdended my stomach. I'm sorry you had so much problems/pain and so many trips to the hospital. I hope you can get some relief and you can find someone who listen and fix your problem amd so many

Went through the exact same thing! In and out of the hospital for months. Ultrasounds...cat scans..xrays...but nothing could be done. They would pump me with Pain meds and send me home. On my last er visit i met an angel of a doctor who saw right of hand that my uterus was trapping blood only to get worse with every cycle because it wasn't shedding. He told me that the hormone and birth control treatments would not do any good because of the existing scar tissue. He scheduled a hysterectomy within a week and instantly after the removal of a 15 lb uterus, i feel like a new woman!
