I had gone to the obgyn to consider ablation for the heavy bleeding. I saw the nurse practitioner first and after an examination we discussed ablation vs. hysterectomy. She told me if you have fibroids that are removed when having the ablation the fibroids may come back with a vengeance. An ultrasound was done and it showed fibroids and a very large polyp along with an abnormally thickening of the uterine lining. I saw the physician after that and he disagreed with his NP about the fibroids coming back with a vengeance and wanted to do the ablation that week in his office(he never examined me). I went for a second opinion and it was found (with another ultrasound) that I have a polyp or mass the size of a racquet ball, a mass on one of my overies and many fibroids along with the thickened lining. This physician says I am not a candidate for ablation. A biopsy was done and am awaiting results. I have a couple of friends who have had a hysterectomy and are happy with their dicision. One that had an ablation and still has cramps and bleeding. I have conflicting feelings about what to do.
