I have issues with this as well. I have had it for probably two to three years. My paps have always come back saying that I have a yeast infection. Doctors have prescribed medication which will temporarily cure it. Sex is uncomfortable and dry. After I have sex things start swelling...I tried jock itch spray for the firt time tonight. It burns terribly, but if it helps it I can tolerate the burn. I'm so frustrated.

I'm experiencing a similar problem...
I just stopped taking birth control, so it could be a pH imbalance, right?
I was on the NuvaRing, and I suspected it was the culprit to some of my emotional trauma, so I discontinued use of it.
I was recently diagnosed with HPV (not the warty kind, or the cancer-causing kind).
I rub it because it itches, which isn't what I'm supposed to do, and it makes it worse, but it feels slightly better at the time (but worse after the itchy frenzy~!!).
Sex is uncomfortable and dry for me, too.
It's my 20th birthday, I'm active duty AF serving in Japan... I don't want a defiant vagina to get in the way of my fun while I can still have it...

:-D I feel very blessed to have found this sight, I have been suffering for almost two years now, going to the Emergency room, and many so called doctors.I feel so down sometimes I feellike giving up on life...crazy but it has gotten that bad to where I'm crying and depressed. I just turned 26 and I feel so old down there. I have extreme dryness, itching, redness, and burning, and when I over do it on the sugar I have white clumpy discharge or thick pasty discharge.I'm always researching this so I found out by putting 1 and 1 together that I may need to go on a glucose free diet, and like some of you the symptoms increase right before my menstrual cycle and then it goes away during, and it returns...alright I've said enough, but ladies bless you all, I feel better knowing that all of us together will one day find the solution for this thing, and who needs "doctors" >:(

I had an IUD and suffered from many vaginal infections back to back no matter what medicine or creams I used. Once I had my IUD remained I did not have the problem anymore.

Okay here is the issue. About a week or so before her period she gets itching and burning in her vagina. This has been going on for some time now. Maybe 5 months or more. Every time I look at it when she is having these issues I cannot see any rashes.

She absolutely refuses to go to a doctor like I have been begging her because she is very stubborn. I have given up on getting here to go to the doctor and am trying to find things for her to use.

My questions are is this normal for young woman age 20? What treatment can she use? Will it eventually stop reoccuring? I have no reason to believe it is an STD as we are both committed in a long term relationship and we are our only partners we have ever had.

Please help me out as I am worried about her.
Thanks.

Okay I think maybe I'm on to something, I noticed that most of us have these issues around the menstrual cycle, before and after, so i think it may just be a hormonal issue, one or more hormones may not be in balance. I've found many online tools that can help you,all you have to type in the search engine is "hormone test" and so that should help you narrow it down. I'm actually very excited that I'm finding possible information that will help me figure out whats going on, and btw i'm starting BC Sunday so eventhough this is the first time and I'm scared out my mind I'm hopeful this will rregulate my hormone, will keep you posted XD

OK so I'm not going crazy and not the only one going thru this. I had my son a year ago, and after I had him I had an IUD inserted and I noticed this itching started soon after..Ive never had any infections or this kind of itching ever..so when I went in for my checkup I told my doctor that after the IUD was inserted Ive started itching really bad..he said he didnt find any problems or infections that I should change to a non scented soap and pantyliners..I have tried that and it has helped a little but hasnt fully gone away. After I asked if the IUD could be causin this he told me no..but since reading all these posts I really do think the IUD and itching could be related...Im so over this tho..it like takes over my life and its embarrasing..I just want to be back to my normal routines...Somedays its so bad that I cause cuts and dont even feel like having intercourse. I havent tried soaking in baking soda but I will definetly try that.

when it starts to itch, run to the bathroom and wash it thoroughly with COLD water. you dont necessary need to take a whole shower.

another thing that helps is not using soap. when you wash your body, try to avoid any chemicals or soap foams touching the area.

if its chapped, try using cream. if that doesnt work, buy the sticky kind.

hope this helped

I have been having this issue off and on for quite sometime now as well, but it has never been as bad as it has been the past few months. I gave birth to my second son in July 2008, almost a year ago. I haven't started my period this month. However, I do not have the IUD... I have had a tubal ligation. I shower once a day, and since I tend to stay moist I wash with an antibacterial soap before I go to sleep at night. I have tried everything, I hadn't shaved the area for a few weeks, so I thought that might be a problem with the hair causing irritation since I usually don't have that much, so I shaved a couple days ago... that helped a little. I am wondering that since I am overweight and I have a bigger labia than most, and since I stay moist, would it be the chaffing? I have scratched so much that I ripped the top part, the beginning of the labia majora, and I am in so much pain, on top of the itching that will not go away!!! I have used an antifungal cream (generic), cortaid maximum strength, neosporin, and even diaper rash cream (balmex & desitin). I will try the baking soda thing, it is just hard for me to soak cause we only have a shower, no tub. Plus, wouldn't that maybe cause an infection since I have open skin from the rip? Argh! Please someone help... :'(

I think it's sad that so many of us suffer from this and we aren't getting any answers... (I mean from health care professionals). I starting having this problem when my husband and I were using the VCF (vaginal contraceptive film). I would just itch and itch and scratch until I bled. We quit using them and I got on the Nuva Ring. Plus... I started using Empson Salt when I showered....(put about a half a cup into a larger cup and fill with water... pour over the vaginal area... keep filling with water and pouring until all of the salt is gone) or take a bath and put it in the bath water. And (this is a big one) I had to make myself STOP scratching so much. It was hard but, doing these few things helped me tremendously. I haven't had problems for months. Then.. I got off of the Nuva Ring. ALL of my symptoms reappeared:( And I just started my period today... my husband and I had sex last night.. so right now it's horrible. I wish we could get a diagnosis and get a solution. Life is miserable sometimes.

I do not have an IUD and I have been having the same symptoms as most of these users. Ovulation time is when the itch happens. As soon as I start my period it all goes away until next month. I wouldn't try linking it with the IUD though, because I have never had one. This did however start happening after I quit taking my DEPO shot....I have two daughters, the youngest is over 1 year, so who knows the cause or cure to this mysterious problem. I am buying vagisil and will try some of the methods found here. This page has been a big help (so far) :-)

I'M SO RELIEVED TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE OTHER WOMEN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE. I WAS BEGINNING TO THINK I WAS GOING CRAZY. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM OFF AND ON FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW. I WOULD GO AWAY FOR A WHILE, THEN I WOULD COME BACK. THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS I HAVE NOTICED THAT IT GET WORSE BEFORE, DURING, & AFTER MY PERIOD. I ALSO WONDER IF IT'S A HORMONE THING. I'M 43 YEARS OLD. I HAVE HAD A TUBLAGATION 19 YEARS AGO. I ALSO EXPERIENCE VAGINAL DRYNESS. I JUST WENT FOR MY YEARLY CHECKUP. ALL TEST COME BACK NEGATIVE. MY DOCTOR DID A BIOPSY & BACTERIAL CULTURE. HE SAID NOTHING WAS GROWING. LIKE YOU LADIES, IT DOESN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. HE TOLD ME TO KEEP PUTTING THE MONISTAT CREAM, OR BOUDREAX BUTT CREAM ON IT. HE ALSO GAVE ME SOME DIFLUCAN TO TAKE, EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T HAVE A YEAST INFECTION. IT HELPS FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, THEN THE ITCHING GETS WORSE AGAIN. I HOPE SOMEONE CAN COME UP WITH AN ANSWER SOON OR I'LL GO NUTS. MY POOR HUSBAND HASN'T HAD SEX IN 3 TO 4 MONTHS NOW. I'M IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP. :'(

I noticed that alot of woman mentioned they had IUD's I've had the same issuse this will be the 3rd year that I've been dealing with it, I had an IUD in but two years ago had a hysterectomy but the condition continues. I've been to my PCP and Gyno and have been on many different medicated creams and had no affact. I've tryed everything and have found no relief..tho it's comforting to a point to at least know I'm not the only one suffering, but at the same why isn't there any answers, why isn't there something that can be done to prevent this itch, once i start i can't stop and it gets so bad that I'll break the skin and bleed. I don't think it's anything fungal or my husband would have some of the same symptoms, but he seems to be unaffected.. what the deuce!?!

im a teenage girl with the same problem and this has been troubling me for some time as well... the itching and irritating is non stop. its either a UTI or a yeast infection.... but not always... because some people's skin is just sensitive or sometimes too dry... and you have to look out for changes. like use of different detergents... soaps... condoms.... and all that jazz! i doubt its a UTI... because the pee hole doesnt burn when its coming out... the pee burns ths skin as it comes out.... so that leaves irritated and dry skin or yeast infection. awhile back i was having the same issue with my breast. they were irritated beneath and always itchy and dry... and then they started burning... and things just felt bad... and i felt ugly (though no one knew)! but i used gold bond and it slowly went away... but i doubt u wanna use that for your vagina... cuz it will BURN! but i remember once hearing that sometimes women can sweat alot and that moisture turns into fungi and it sits and builds up and irritates the body... well under the breast... which is why they say its best to wear cotton bras... which soaks all that up! so think about cotton panties and the same has to go for the vagina.... because im always wet down there (lol... i think about my boo all day and sometimes just sweat)... but i think it just gets too wet and i dont use the bathroom often so it stays there till i do. but as for the dryness now... i've been using triple antibiotic ointmnet... just to save the doc trip... cuz they're just gonna prescribe some crazy cream. and my libia had swolen at one point after i washed up and i think i scrubed too hard... but use mild soap and try using your hand instead of the towel or sponge to clean yourself in that area. i think in time it'll go away (HOPEFULLY)... been pissin me off for about 1 1/2 now... but we're slowly making progress.
