Try using Domeboro powder compresses for the itching. Once you control the itching, it might help clear it up. I also have it and have had it for several years. No sex either, But from rubbing and scratching I have developed sores.

Also I found some foods seem to cause more irritation. Spicy ones

I have had this problem for about a year and a half. Only happens before a would be period. Mine have always been extremely irregular so I rarely actually have them. I usually get all of the symptoms before though, cramps and such. For me I usually get a thick sticky discharge for just a few days which goes away when the cramps stop. But then I have the itching for a about a week and subsequently the swelling and tearing and everything else that everyone is describing. Nothing I have tried works. I have just been waiting it out. I think the ladies talking about diet and PH might be close to the mark because that is the only significant life change I have had in the last couple of years. No birth controls, no babies and only one partner, my husband, whom has no issues.

I get really itchy down there sometimes too , it burns & when I wash up it makes it soo worse , when I use the soap and other things . Perfumes & sprays irritate me alot down there , so I've stopped using them . It changes the levels of my Ph , which causes redness & little bumps & soreness & itching inside the lips of my vagina . Hydrocortizone has been working for me .. & alot of cool liquid things like water & the natural excretions of my vagina.

Hello Ladies,

I was so pleased to find this site becuase I have had this same problem off and on for many years....I'm talking since I was a teen and now i'm 30 years old. I have been paranoid in so many relationships because of this, worrying if it's a weird STD, or a strange infection but no matter how many times i've gone to the doctors, I always get the dumb founded look by the "Professionals". I even had a biopsy. They actually removed a piece of the vaginal skin to test it and only found that my skin is a little thicker than most and that was it. I went through hell from this biopsy, even an infection from it afterwards that caused me to walk off a job so I could go the ER. This itch (also burning if I scratch too much) is in the exact same spot everytime it bothers me...starts in the vaginal opening and up my right side onto the labia skin. Since no docs have been able to help me with this, I just try to do whatever I can to relive it, and that is AVOID ITCHING IT AT ALL POSSIBLE CAUSES...this just causes it to itch more leading to burning raw skin that really hurts when pee runs over it. I also try to use a ITCHING/BURNING VAGINAL CREAM AT THE FIRST SIGN to reduce the intensity of it. I have also noticed that it bothers me around my period as well...starting when im ovulating til my period is over with.

LADIES, MAYBE IF WE CAN PULL TOGETHER AND GET ANSWERS TO LEAD TO A FINAL DIAGNOSIS, THAT WOULD BE WONDERS FOR US ALL. BEST OF LUCK TO EACH ONE OF YOU AND MYSELF THAT WE CAN SOMEDAY GET PERMANENT RELIEF FROM THIS ANNOYING WOMAN PROBLEM. GOOD LUCK!

Hi, I am having this issue also.
I have tried many things antibiotics from the doctor, pH tablets, the two seem to work momentarily until you stop talking them.
I have tried several sorts of creams.
I cant help but think this may be a hormonal change in the body.
Im really glad to have found that so many other women have this too.
Currently and which has been most effective I am taking Inner Health Plus tablets which maintain the bodys balance of good bacteria, as well as using a pH balancing gel.
Having said that I am being bothered by the problem at present which Im sure is caused from the menstrual cycle. I read somewhere that tampons will cause irritation so Im not but pads are no better. Hope this helps you guys as u have helped me :)

I've been given a diagnosis for very similar symptoms to you all.  Burning, stinging, painful irritations that occur near the opening and are always in the same areas.  I don't fully agree with my diagnosis and am still seeking further professional opinions, but the doctor I saw about five years ago diagnosed me with vaginismus.  It was so bad before my diagnosis that it looked like herpes.  I was tested and I do not have herpes nor did I have any signs of a yeast infection during each test.  Pus was present, though.  My condition can be set off by something as simple as having pressure on the area for 30 seconds, rubbing anything against it (finger, towel, you name it) and it makes sex ridiculously difficult.  I wouldn't be surprised if I have a secondary condition, but best of luck to all.  I've used numerous creams/ointments to attempt relief and the ones that helped (didn't cure and didn't stop it from coming back) were Canesten and Vagisil (not together, but separately).  They sometimes aggrivated it, though.

I've recently gotten pains down below from about 2-3 days ago and I have no clue what it could be. I mean, it just hurts and I've had a look and nothing seems really wrong except a little red on the left side. I've only ever had sex with one guy and I'm sure he hasn't gotten anything because he's only had intercourse with me. The pain is so bad that just a gentle touch and it hurts, I've looked online for what it could be and it always leads back to having a yeast infection...so I'm guessing that's what I may have. It also says that having a little discharge is fine but too much may be a symptom and it would be like cottage cheese but watery or not as thick? ? I haven't had any discharge like that.
I've tried having intercourse with my boyfriend and it hurt like Hell just by trying to and it also hurt afterwards, but it felt like it was stinging/burning. I can't exactly walk normally without feeling irritation and I can't sit down unless I have my legs crossed, even when laying down my legs have to be open slightly. But I still feel irritation whenever something rubs against it. I've had a normal bubble bath and the irritation goes away. It's once I become dry that the pain/irritation comes back...
I'm still unclear about what could be wrong but some people have suggested having a warn bath with a cup of cider vinegar or baking soda in it.  I've put sudocrem on and the irritation seemed to disappear for a few hours, but would it actually make a difference and should I keep using it? ? I don't really want to try anything else until I have some advice, I'm scared to ask a doctor and get tests done so that's why I'd like to try homemade remedies and see if there are any changes within a week.

I had a severe itching problem for weeks. I tried everything I could think of to no avail. I finally couldn't take it any longer and I reached for the athlete's foot spray. It burned a little, but it was sooo worth it. I am happily itch free & if I sense it trying to come back, I simply spray the area for preventative measures. Works like a charm.

I was treating a yeast infection for a month or more. One day I had a really rough time and itched the hell out of myself most of the day! The next day I woke up with large amount of scabbing and open sores. I am wondering if I have herpes, or if it possibly that I scratched myself so raw that I scabbed. What do you think? I could really use some help!

I have had my problem for nearly or just over a month, I don't remember how long but long enough.
I have extreme itching which is making it 100 times worse. It's sore, and i have started developing spots all over my upper leg and bum too :( I've tried continuously washing every day which hasn't helped, as i've had thrush before i thought i would try the thrush cream and no luck, tried leaving the creams and going days and nights without underwear, still no luck and now i'm using vagisil which kind of helps the itching but i put it on this morning and the itching is worse than usual. I've decided to see if my doctor can give me a call back at lunch time so i can explain and maybe they will want to see me as it's getting to that point where i'm considering cutting the damn thing off lol. Not funny i know. I don't even want to get undressed in front of my husband anymore :(

I've had this for 2-3 years now and I swore if I found something that worked, I would come on here and share.  I have tried to treat my symptoms for every possible thing...eczema, warts, fungus, yeast, hormones...you name it I've tried to treat it.  My family and I had 2 strikes against us...we were season pass holders to water parks and wrestlers...two places where fungus thrives.  So, here's the deal...we have an old school doctor, he's great for simple over the counter remedies.  I took my daughter to him because she had this white patchy skin on her shoulder that wouldn't tan.  He said it was Tinia something, a fungus, gave her a script for the diflucan one time pill, and said to get a bottle of Selson Blue shampoo; I got the medicated kind. He said to put it on like a lotion at night before bed, completely covering the skin and wash it off in the morning.  Put it on again that morning for a few hours and wash it off a second time.  Of course, I was thinking what the heck, it can't hurt...so, I tried it on my labia.  It has been an instant relief!! Past the initial tingling of the methol-like medication in the shampoo, it was fine. It did feel very dry when I dried off so I put some Neutrogena sesame oil on...I finally feel normal today and no itching! I will say that about three days before this, I had started douching with 30 ml of 1/2 hydrogen peroxide and 1/2 water using a medicine dropper and using anti-bacterial soap down there only.  I use a separate soap on my body and make sure to wash my feet last.  I also wipe out the shower or tub with bleach after every shower/bath and no loofa brushes or puffs...they can transfer contaminates.  Use a new clean cloth everytime.  I'm still going to finish this 7 day treatment out as it was recommended by a mid-wife for a remedy for pH health and can cure up any BV, bacterial vaginosis.  I am gradually increasing the strength of hydrogen peroxide so eventually I will use 100% peroxide.  Also, I had tears from scratching, which I used Bactroban on, a prescription neosporin so to speak.  So, this is the combo that has worked for me so far...Selson Blue, hydrogen peroxide, anti-bacterial soap and Bactroban.  Good luck and don't give up hope!
