Hi Delloud, I'm really sorry I didn't pick up your response to my post sooner. I think my mass culling of spam mail has been far too vigorous!! Well yes I am still having the issues but am dealing with them better than a year ago.
For me, I have maintained from the outset to all the "professionals" that the issue feels that it is "neck based" but these people can find nothing mechanically wrong. If I feel that my heavy is becoming "active" I find that by pressing down on the muscle across the top of my shoulder (with my opposite hand) somewhat relieves the situation. More often than not I find my shoulders are in the raised position (even when I haven't felt particularly stressed) and relaxing them or forcing them down does make me feel "in a better place". I am still visiting an osteopath monthly - I don't feel this is now giving benefits related to my problem - though possibly helping my back to have better flexibity and posture.
The fact that I have full mobility in my neck makes me believe this is generally a soft tissue problem and will be trying different tacks along that route over the coming months. The shopping centre thing is definately better than it was - I still have occurrences during prolonged excursions - especially it has involved a lot of head movements (eg. when scanning items and shelves looking for something in an unfamilar store).
I really sympathise with your situation (and frustrations). The best I can suggest is to "recognise" the symptoms as a "tension message" from your body and ensure that your posture is as good as you can make it. Try some stretches of the tense areas to relax the tense muscles and finally I sometimes try to "ride through/along with" the sensations rather than fight against them - a bit like a surfer goes with the wave. Good luck.

Haven't been on this forum in ages. I've just taken a look through but still the same information you read on every other forum. Lots of well meaning people who don't really have a clue. I have exactly the same issues as described in the original post and more, feeling dizzy/fogged/disorientated. Neck muscles back of neck very weak, my lower back is also very weak and painful. Pains in all my joints, loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, depression. I've had these symptoms now for over 10 years and my stupid f*****g doctor still doesn't have a clue what is causing it. I've taken so many different drugs and health supplements. Spent thousands trying to cure myself and seen so many different specialists but still to no avail. Doctors just call it fibromyalgia because they are too f*****g stupid to diagnose the problem. Good luck to everyone.

I have had almost the same exact thing! I had some sugar, and usually try to stay away. That night, my right arm went completely numb! Freaked me out and created a major anxiety attack, which spiraled into small ones. I feel the dizzy/foggy/pressure in head and neck. I, too, went to accupunture and when I left monday I thought I was gonna throw up, pass out, etc. I was soooo dizzy. It took hours to subside. I still feel icky! Have decreased strength, tingling in right arm. Think it's a pinched nerve. Has me very anxious as well, and yes, a horrible, scary combo. Ihope you feel better, and that I do too! :)

GEE WOW IM NOT ALONE
For the last three years no doctor seems to want to help me regarding my pain issues, and every where I go they just want to put me on anxiety tabs, im anxious, yes but purely because of the pain, and its taking its toll on my job.
I am a 40 year old male, I have had an MRI and x-ray, and I will write down the results below, Just a quick medical history, I have high blood pressure and a blood problem called polycythemia, cause of it is still a mystery.
My Pain symptoms are as follows: Firstly I would like to say the pain is all left sided only. (Which causes my anxiety levels to rise)
It’s a sharp intense burning pain from the base of my skull down my left side of the neck (I think it’s the trap muscle) to my whole left side of chest (sternum and ribs) front and back (shoulder blade area) it shoots straight through. Its like a continous very very sharp stabbing like feeling, often associated with electric like sensations, it goes down my left arm to my left hand. I have this pain all day every day, but I must say as soon as I lie down on my back, it does subside a bit, but clearly I cant do that all day, I have to work. I work at a computor all day. But also what drives me insane is the dizziness and headaches that drive me mad. When I say dizziness not the spinning sensation, just like a whooshing sensation and that’s also one thing I also get at the base of my skull I get this like whooshing sensation (that’s the only way I can describe it) I also have pain from my lower back down my left leg from my groin to my left foot, I also get that burning sensation down the leg from the groin.
These are my Mri results from august 2011
C4/C5 Shallow posterior disc bulge associated with right paracentral annular fissure. Advanced Hypertrophic left sided facet degeneration with oedema related to the opposing articular facets extending into the left C4 & C5 Pedicles.
Synovial / Capsular soft tissue extends into the neural foramen resulting in moderate foraminal narrowing and it abuts and deforms the exiting left C5 nerve root.
C5/C6 Disc height reduced with shallow disc bulgeging with a small central posterior radial annular fissure. Severe left sided facet degeneration with encroachment upon the left neural foramen.
C6/C7 Posterior disc bulging with right paracentral annular fissure
L1/L2 Patchy disc dessication anteriorly with associated ventral disc height loss. There is mild disc bulging with anterior endplate osteophtosis.
This is my X-Ray results from Non 2010.
Cervical spondylitis with left C5 nerve root damage. Left sided facet joint Arthrosis at C4,C5 & C6 levels. Slight elongation of the right C7 Transverse process. And thoracocervical curve convex to the right.
If you could maybe help and explain if this is causing my left sided pain issues ,dizziness and headaches up the side of my face and jaw pain .
Regards
Kev Pigg

@Angelzfire3 - A pinched nerve for 9+ years? And none of my MRI's or X-rays or CT Scans showed this?

You are a m***n without the slightest amount of medical knowledge, nor any compassion. Go away.

It sounds like you could have what I've got which is occipital neuralgia. I finally got diagnosed and treated after seeing a pain management specialist who was also an anesthesiologist. It sucks but if you have the same thing, you can try getting a nerve block.

three months ago i had a very stressful time with alot of worries and tensiondue to some life related issues shortly after i been experiencing almost the same symptoms of constant dizziness which gets worse after any physical effort, always tired, headache, sore throat, heavy neck like its swollen or something,, i have done all sort of tests nothing is wrong with my blood,, i went to the doctor gave me some tablets to ease the dizziness and others to defuse my anxity which i didnt bother taking coz i tried them before and that sort of medication make matter worse and increase the symptoms not reduce it,,, my nutritionist at golds gym has advised me to have a table spoon of organic honey three times a day specially in the morning before breakfast,, i started doing it for the last 6 days now,, and guess what? for the first time in 3 months i got a clear head 90% of the day and feel like am getting better,,feel more active and less headache,, i'd recommend this, it worked for me and definitely worth a try,,, also i rejoined my gym which has made me feel alot better to excersize,,,eat healthy and try to switch off your brain coz if your brain is at peace ur body will be too.

Hi, I had similar problems and was diagnosed with something huge, but its all behind me now. So get an MRI done, check for middle ear problems, etc. The MRI will help with the elimination process. You may also be straining your neck, so try physiotherapy as well and have your alignment checked.

I am the one who started this thread "visting20" i just forgot my password and honestly my health is so bad I feel so apathetic to even try to recover my password via email.
My neck has reached an all time high WORST. Pure neck weakness feeling, spasms, heavy head feeling, dizziness/foggy head, feels like lack of oxygen to my brain - everything I said in my first post but now X2 WORSE.
I have been to a chiropractor and NOTHING. Probably 30 adjustments - NO HELP.
I have been to a pain management and got 10 shots total - 5 shots in my neck scm area and 5 in my back. DID NOTHING AT ALL!
I have taken every medication - dizziness medication, anti-nausea medication, muscle relaxers, NOTHING TOUCHES IT! Clonzapeam is the only thing I take, 3MG per day, the first 2 months it worked wonders reducing my problem massively now I have to take it just to keep it from getting worse. If I don't take it I will end up with spasms so out of control I have to go to urgent care or hospital. I have been taking clonzapam for 2 years or so now. It doesn't help, it just keeps it from going OUT OF CONTROL CRAZY! If i don't take it, my neck twitches every 10 seconds non-stop. All it does it stop the twitching but does not help any of the weak neck feeling, does not help the foggy head/dizziness, does not help anything else expect help keep the twitching "at bay". I have also taken Bacfleon - ZERO relief, and Flexiral - ZERO RELIEF, and Soma - ZERO RELIEF. Even at high doses the muscle relaxers don't even relax my neck, at all. It's insane - I'd think they'd at least provide temp relief and relax my muscles but my neck is so stiff and locked up that nothing can get to it!
I don't know what to do. Im going to try another chiropractor, or like someone mentioned a physiotherapist. I have such fatigue that I 99% of the time i sleep through any appointments I make. i cant help it. i have extreme controllable fatigue also.
I searched for "upper cervical chripractors" and nothing shows up in my area, or even state. I thought that would be my best bet but I'm not finding any!
I also have been two 2 new massage therapists. Had trigger point therapy done, 3 times. No relief. The massage therapy spent 2 hours and said my neck was "SO BAD AND TENSE SHE COULDN'T EVEN REACH THE MUSCLE!" She said it'd take another hour of just trying to relax my neck to even start the trigger point massage...
I am almost certain something is wrong mostly with my SCM MUSCLE. I can feel the weakness and problems there. If i massage there myself I get tingling and shock senstations throughout my body - I know I'm hitting the spot. Problem is self-massage isn't working nor as professional massage. But i can feel it in my SCM muscle. Anyone know who i should see if the scm muscle is my problem? I've even had friends feel my neck and they are in shock and how it literally feels like a brick - so tense and locked up it's insane. But so far massage and chripractor adjustments have not loosened it up. All the chiro does it crack my neck and back - but everyday my back and neck crack like 5 times a day when I stretch them. Sometimes loud cracks. It's just really, really getting bad.
I don't know who specializes in this "SCM MUSCLE SYNDROME" problem or who can help this sort of problem.
