So it sounds as though you don't have M.S. (multiple sclerosis) from your MRI results. Is that what they were checking for???? Does your neurologist specialize in MS? Some of your symptoms sound like MS.

Wondering, as I have had some of your symptoms, went to a doctor in NYC who specializes in MS and they ordered 3 MRI's with and without contrast which I haven't gone for yet. I had one previous MRI 2 years ago of the brain w/o contrast and they said it was normal.

I am a 52 year old woman, all my symptoms started when I became perimenopausal. I haven't been in any car accidents in over 20 years. The one accident I was in was I was rear ended over 20 years ago at 5 miles and hour. I had no effects other than very slight neck and back pain which went away after 2 days at that time. Never got dizzy till perimenopause started. Now I have all kinds of crazy symptoms which make me fear MS, Fibromyalgia, Orthostatic Intolerance, etc., etc. These symptoms have been bothering me for 2 and half years. I feel weak, dizzy at times, burning pain like fire ants crawling up my legs, back and arms, arm and leg weakness, feeling like I am walking on a boat or a pier, leg heaviness, etc. I have gained some weight since this began I started at 117 lbs and now weigh 130 lbs. from lack of activity due to weakness in legs and feeling like I will pass out. This is not a good way to live. I was given xanax for anxiety, it doesn't help much. I also take bioidentical hormones (progesterone) and have started rubbing estrace (estradiol) cream on my arms hoping it might help some of my symptoms. I really don't have hot flashes, I have these crawling feelings going up my arms, into my shoulders and chest which make me feel like I will pass out. I hope these symptoms are due to menopause lack of hormones or hormonal changes and not from M.S.

Like most of the posts here, after 6 months of dizziness and no issues with blood tests etc, I pleased with doctor for a concentrated look at symptoms, as a 49yr old very active sports guy, the dizziness was virtually ruing my life. The doctor asked for anoth set of bloods, but, for some reason I decided to tick the B12 analysis box on the blood test form, and low and behold, the test came back extremely good in all other areas (non smoker / occasionall wine beer with dinner etc / twice per week at gym) apart from B12, which had a score of 176 agains a "treat below" flag of 350 (normal range is 500-900). The sysmptoms of B12 deficiency are dixxy/brain fog/tired ness/muscle ache some tingling. Having looked into B12 as i now face further test it is clear that normal blood tests do NOT test for same, yet it is a very common, and to a degree (I am advised) easily treatable, even if the cause is Pernicious Anemia thu poor Intrinsic Factor production. I have had the scans and blood work, and hope that by sheer chance of luck (me ticking the box!) i have found the root cause of my dizziness and tiredness.

If not, the next step is chiro analysis on neck, which after 12 years of rugby, mainly in front row, creaks and cracks like an old door frame! maybe some damage causing the dizziness, but my money is on B12 issue.

For all with these symptoms, suggest you check B12 levels at next blood test.

Just giving this thread an update on my symptoms/condition. I ended up seeing a chiropractor and she said the root of my symptoms is physical stress on my neck, stress in general really. I have two slightly rotated disks in my neck and my poor posture from sitting on the computer all the time has caused forward-neck, which strains my upper back and makes the symptoms worse. I'm also a very stressed and anxious person in general so she says anxiety has a lot to do with it as well and has recommended acupuncture, massage therapy and yoga. I started feeling better about 2-3 weeks into doing her exercises but I'm still experiencing the constant, dull headache. It's just relieved sometimes. Which means I'm definitely in the right direction. I've yet to try the other recommendations but I will soon and keep you all updated. At my appointment yesterday she said eye strain can causes headaches and it dawned on me that my computer usage has the most effect on my symptoms because the symptoms started right after High School when I had no plans for college and all I did was go to work (on the computer) and come home and get on the computer. I was spending at least 8 hours a day on the computer, every single day. So the stress on my neck and eyes seems to be the root of the issue and the anxiety/stress that came after the symptoms (because I thought it was something more serious) made the symptoms worse. I'm really excited to try the new things out. She said "It's amazing how acupuncture blocks pain signals and stimulates muscles." I'm extremely tense (at night when I'm in bed I catch myself cringing and have to make myself relax) so I know this will do me some good anyways.

Also, I'm twenty years old and I haven't got my wisdom teeth out even though the dentist has been telling me to do so for over two years (the duration of my symptoms) and I think it might have something to do with my problems as well. I catch my self grinding my teeth periodically throughout the day and it's worse in the evenings. I've also caught myself clenching my jaw when I'm trying to go to sleep. I'm sure I do it as I'm sleeping as well. I've read the grinding your teeth can cause tension headaches. My mom works at my dentist's office and she said they can make me a bite guard.

Anyways, if you're experiencing any of these things, check out what my chiropractor suggested I do. It's already helping.

(CAUSES) IN SHORT:* Excessive computer usage: strains neck+back+eyes/causes poor posture* Wisdom Teeth: changes structure of mouth/teeth, can cause teeth griding* Stress/Anxiety: causes physical/emotional tension

WHAT TO DO:* Visit a chiropractor for posture correction techniques/muscle adjustments* Massage Therapy* Acupuncture* Yoga* Spend less time at the computer/take many breaks* Anxiety relief techniques/medication/muscle relaxers

Hello there. My goodness your symptoms are alarmingly similar to mine. Your's are closer to mine than anyone I've heard of.

I got up one evening after supper with my family about 9 years ago, and instantly felt dizzy. The dizziness didn't subside that evening, so I decided to have an early night. I was sure that I had a virus of some kind, because I literally felt at sea. The following morning I woke up with the worst stiff, painful neck. I couldn't even lift up a cup of without feeling the pain and stiffness in my neck. As the days progressed the dizziness, stiffness and pain increased. And yes like you, my head felt too heavy for my neck. And also feeling like I was going to faint.  I felt as though I needed to wear a neck-brace or some alternative sort of support. A visit to my doctors yielded absolutely no diagnosis or support whatsoever. After 2 weeks of this nightmare, I returned to them and asked them to refer me for an MRI scan. Unfortunately the waiting list for this was 1 year! ( On the NHS in the UK). And I wasn't in a position to pay for it, as the cost was astronomical. Meanwhile I was fighting my doctors to get blood -tests. They didn't feel that my symptoms warranted blood tests. Even though some viruses attack muscle tissue, and I could very well have had a virus. A blood test would have indicated my red versus white blood count and establish whether or not I was fighting a virus or infection. Doctors huh!  By the time I had the MRI scan, there were no obvious signs of any problem. I was told that the long wait for the scan, meant that the original cause may very well have gone, leaving me to live with these symptoms.

After that I was left completely at sea with no idea how to go about investigating this issue. After years of investigating chiropractors and osteopaths. I found a fantastic Body Manipulative Therapist - Narendra Mehta (sadly deceased in 2011) in London ,at The Champissage Centre. Narendra had worked in this forum for decades and had worked with dancers, athletes, and people from all walks of life who'd been disregarded by orthodox medicine. He listened very carefully to my symptoms, life-style, diet etc. And worked on me very gently, in a way as though he was mapping my body before doing any serious work. He found that one side of my body was completely out of balance with the other. i.e when he asked me to turn my head towards my shoulders. He found that my head was able to turn more to my left than my right. That, and other excercises revealed to him that I had at some point been lifting or carrying beyond my natural range and put my neck out. At the same time he was intrigued by the sudden onset of my symptoms. And also argued that I should have at least been given blood tests. Then the work began. For 3 months I visited him. I must add that the first 3 sessions made me feel dizzier. But subsequent sessions relieved a lot of stiffness, and heaviness. However, as mentioned earlier, Narendra sadly died. But not before receiving an OBE, for which I was extremely proud for him. I haven't been able to find anyone quite like him again. And it's hard to advise what you should do. But I notice that the one thing you haven't mentioned is that you haven't had any SCANS or BLOODTESTS!! That may be a good place to start. That way at least you can rule out any bone or structural damage. And the BLood Tests will establish if you have an infection or virus. Crucial during the first couple of months of your symptoms. Good luck and all the best. Also, I would advise that you don't discuss too much about your anxieties regarding relationships with any doctors at this juncture before they at least do some preliminary physical tests and investigations first. Doctors are notoriously lazy about investigating issues that aren't OBVIOUS. So don't offer them a problem they know how to fix like depression. Which may have nothing to do with a neck problem. Good luck.

I've had the same issues. I have three bones in the front and three vertabres in the back of my neck damaged from a car accident.   I was seeing a pain specialist, a Chyropractor, and going to physcial therapy.  Had all the above symptoms...I was miserable until i heard my co works talking about deep tissue massage, so i decided to go. Having a deep tissue massage on my neck has changed my life.  The muscles in my neck were rock hard, i was getting limited oxygen and blood flow but since i had the deep tissue massage (i go every 6 weeks now).....ive had amazing results.

When you're hungry or just haven't ate in a little while and you're exposed to heat (hot water, sunny summer day..ect) then you start to feel dizzy and feel like your head weighs a lot more than it does usually but also sometimes your sight gets blurry and shows various colours. That's just how it works, it happens to everyone, there's nothing wrong with you.

Hello. I've had similar symptoms that appeared to be pretty random. I'd strongly suggest that you go to your doctor NOW. Ask for blood tests. As you may have a virus that's affected your Neck Muscles or Nervous System. ALSO ,seriously change your diet!! Sodas are not a great idea nutritionally. Especially when you have a mysterious health problem. Seeing a Nutritionist would be fantastic. Nutritionists send you for Tests that read your entire system. For instance your Endocrine System, Defficiencies, Toxicology etc. And they are great in helping with issues of Depression ETC. They can then put you on a nutrition programme to help balance and heal you. If you haven't had any definitive results from your Doctor. I'd maintain the Nutritionist Path as well as an Osteopath. These worked for me. I hope they do for you too. If finances are tight, I'd suggest the Nutritionist is the BEST investment. You will get a lot of information about what is happening to your body via the tests they prescribe. And these will stand you in good stead for life! Often these tests reveal more than the orthodox tests which I found were lacking in so much, that in the end my Doctor was referring me to so many specialists. And they in turn didn't know what to even look for, let alone know what to test for. All the best and good luck.

Yeah my Friend was playing around and cracked/popped my neck...

It made me feel like he almost broke it and made my body weaker. I am pretty sure it's axeity (Spelt Wrong) and my Mind is making me feel like something did happen. The Mind is a powerful thing and you shouldn't let it get the best of you.

Juat now came across this post  I hope you have found some answers and relief since the last post.  I too was in a hit and run andhave taken valium for dizziness, prescribed by an ENT who speciaplizes in dizziness.  Lot s of MRI and test which were all negative.  Now, migraines have started, and that Dr. prescribed physical therapy.  The PT said that the muscles in your neck -mmine being tight- causes the migraines and dizziness and weak legs, brain-fog. nausea.  I was told by one Dr. that it was BPPV (Benign Prosmal Positional Vertigo), but an Epley maneuver made the dizziness horribly worse.  He told me to not provoke it and to sleep propped up.  This dis help the dizziness, but I also couldn't dirive as quick head movements would set off the dizxiness.  Now, the PT is trying to get me to move everything and lie flat, do exercises to loosen the tight neck muscles.  I get really dizzy lying flat and now so weak in neck muscles that getting out of bed is awful.  I am tring the  "log roll" but lying flat still makes me dizzy.  I hope someone sees this and has some answers.

You might have a couple things going on. The dizziness you've got sounds like an inner ear issue if your balance is being effected. Meniere's disease is just one inner ear problem that comes to mind and is associated with extreme bouts of dizziness and migraines are associated with it, but the dizziness comes and goes with Menieres. My neck issue ended up being occipital neuritis which is treated and diagnosed by a nerve block shot. Go to a pain management specialist, particularly one that's a board certified anesthesiologist.

It's almost been 6 YEARS since I posted this. I am still having the same problems, was actually getting worse. But then I think I might have FINALLY found the right treatment/doctor just a few weeks ago!!! It's called UPPER CERVICAL CHIROPRACTOR. They are the FIRST doctor of any doctor who says they know  what my problem is, and are also the FIRST doctor who when they ran tests, it actually SHOWED my neck and back had major major problems!! No other tests or doctors showed me this!!

#1 AN MRI DID NOT show my neck and back problems!!! I had an MRI and it showed nothing. I went to a "special" type of chiropractor, which I believe I actually found out about through some-ones post here. They are called UPPER CERVICAL CHIROPRACTORS. They did an X-Ray of my neck, and an EMG SCAN. And HOLY COW where the results bad! The X-ray showed my neck/head was literally titled 5+ degrees off balance, even though they had medal plates holding my head straight for the X-ray!!! Secondly, the "EMG SCANS" showed my neck and back had MAJOR problems. The EMG SCAN was color coded (mild, moderate, to severe) and showed each area of the neck and back. I had moderate to severe problems on almost every place on my back and neck. Mainly the C-3 area in my neck, it was "OFF THE CHARTS bad". It was so bad it went past the maxium reading of "Severe". The C-3 area is the EXACT place I have been feeling the weakness in my muscles - the best way to explain it is to put your hand on the back of your neck - that's where I had the extreme off the chart problem.  The good thing is this is the FIRST and ONLY doctor and ONLY TEST that actually showed I did in fact have very serve problems in my neck! The MRI did NOT PICK ANY OF THIS UP! This test completely picked it up, in detail.

So now I am going for treatment for this problem, the doctor I am going to (he's a chiropractor not an MD) is called: "Upper cervical chiropractor.  Or google "NUCCA" (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association).Trust me, if you are having similar problems to what I described in my first posts and other posts, and think it's related to a muscle problem or neck/back problem, you NEED TO, I REPEAT, YOU NEED TO SEE A Upper Cervical Chiropractor!!! They are VERY different than regular chiropractors, a regular chiropractor does a COMPLETETLY DIFFERENT adjustment, so they aren't even close. Also the testing I recieved from Upper cervical chiropractor was the ONLY test that actually was able to show my neck and back problems! No other tests I got from other doctors (like MRI, etc) could detect anything wrong, expect for the test the Upper cervical chiropractor gave me! So that's definetly a good thing. I have seen every doctor for this problem and no one could figure out what was wrong with me until I saw this Upper cervical chiropractor. I've been to: many regular MD'S, nerulologist, multiple "regular" chiorpractors, 2 different massage therapist, physchical therapy, dentists, pain doctors (and got 8 injections into my back and neck area for pain and to help relax muscles with ZERO RESULTS), i've been to so many doctors, and so many medications, no one could figure it out or help me.  Upper cervical chiropractor was the first to not only figure out where it was all coming from (mainly C-3 area in neck), but completely understand it and they said they can help get my back to normal. It will be a few months before I can tell if indeed the Upper cervical chiropractor is for a fact helping me. I can definetly feel muscles/bones literally moving around in my neck after every adjustment. But since my problem is so severe, and I let it go on for so many years, it's not going to be a quick fix I know that. It will probably be a long road - but if it gets me back to normal for once then I don't care if it takes 6 months I am going to do it! I have been feeling so so terrible than learning about Upper cervical chiropractor's gives me some hope again!! I will report back sometime within the next month, or two, or 3, or when-ever, just to see if this type of Upper cervical chiropractic is helping or not.
