I keep hearing about pedaling techniques. What is all the fuss about it? I mean you pedal as fast as you can and that is it. What is more to it? The stronger you are the faster you can pedal…and sooner you will arrive. Could you explain what this whole pedaling thing is about?

The point is to go faster and the better you pedal the faster you can go. The trick is that if you manage to incorporate good pedaling technique into your routine you will be able to gain speed without any extra work to increase aerobic capacity or strengthening your muscles. That is one heck of a difference. You have to analyze your pedal stroke and identify the weak spots. Three points are very important; pushing forward over the top, pulling back at the bottom and lifting weight of your leg when it moves back up to the top. It is not easy to learn to correct your technique at these points but you will be rewarded with less effort for the same speed or greater speed for the same effort.
