What causes this electric shock ibid my eyes that I recently have been experiencing? I haven't gone to the doctor because I thought I was losing my mind. Lately I have not been able to sleep sometimes up to 48hrs. I notice when I close my eyes that's when the shockwaves come. Could this be related to a sleep disorder?

Hello a smith,
Sounds like you're having pains in your eyes. If you're having problems sleeping (staying up for 2 days at a time), that could well be a sleep disorder. However, pain is well known to cause sleeplessness. You know that pain can makie it very difficult to sleep. It's possible that you a high pressures in your eyes. That often feels like lightening streaks of pain. This might suggest you have glaucoma which is common in the elderly and diabetics. You need to see a doctor (eye doctor) to have your eyes examined. This is very important. If glaucoma is left unchecked you can get serious eye damage. Although glaucoma is generally found in older people, it can happen if you are young as well. Best thing is to have your eyes checked out. I think the sleep problem is secondary.
