Hello, folks. My sister in law was diagnosed polyarteritis nodosis. I know that this is a disease where immune system attacks the blood vessels’ walls. I would like to know, however, what the basic therapy is for this condition. I would really appreciate all your replies. Thanks in advance for all.

Hi, there. You are right. Polyarteritis nodosa is an autoimmune disease. The main goal of therapy is to suppress immune system. You can use for that corticosteroids or immunosuppressive medications. Prednisone is commonly used cortiocosteroid. Cyclophosphamide is another option. Remission can be expected in 90% of cases. If the disease is not treated, it can be fatal. I hope everything will be all right. Bye!
