Hi, there. Infective endocarditis can appear more often within certain people. When we talk about younger population, congenital heart diseases are common risk factors. If heart valves have been already damaged, there is a greater chance for happening. People who have already had infective endocarditis, have more chance to get it once again. I am sure there are more risk factors. I hope someone else will know more. Was this helpful? Good luck to your friend! Bye!

Hello. I can name some risk factors. People who have been using street drugs can also get infective endocarditis. They easily get infected with syringes that are not sterile. There are some conditions that can cause this disease. One of them is called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. People who had valve surgery are also on certain risk. People with weaken immunity like people with AIDS also have risk. I hope I’ve helped as well. Good luck!
