I am a 43 yeal old female. I have had a recurring almost constant light headed and sometimes heavy sensation in my head. There are times when it feels like cold water drips on the inside of my head. I have vertigo sometimes with movement. But I don't think the vertigo is causing all of these other head sensastions. At times I feel like I'm gonna pass out. Never have thank God.
I've seen a neurologist, that was a total disappontment. He said I had small blood vessels in my head and only recommend drinking lots of water. My regular doctors say its vertigo, but not sure.
I've had 1 cat scan and 2 mri's all negative. If anybody has suggestions please let me know. I am so scared. I am a single parent and I take care of my disabled mother. I gotta get help from somewhere.
Thanks

I'm a 31 year old male and had lightheadedness for about 3-4 years now. I was put on a very low dose of Inderal about 3 years ago which eliminated all of my problems. But that medication also had symptoms for me too so i stopped it after about 2 years. I was ok for about 6 months but then it started coming back again.

It's not vertigo or any ear/eye problems or anything like that but related to the cardio/vascular system. I think someone else mentioned it above too, but my cardiologist said it may be due to the blood pressure in or coming out of my head. The problem is that like many others all the tests come back negative including low overall blood pressure.

The last week it has gotten really bad with terrible nausea and the feeling like I'm going to loose consciousness. And coupled with the fact of a heavy almost burning-like sensation in my limbs.

Has anyone else experienced these same symptoms and found the answer?

Wow I thought I was going crazy and that I was the only one in the world going through this. I have been lightheaded and dizzy now for almost two months and its constant and wont go away. Its driving me crazy. It just came out of the clear blue. I have been to so many doctors a nerologist, the er about a dozen times. I had stopped driving for a while. I always was afraid I was going to faint behind the wheel. I have been checked for diebetes and it was neg. I am going to and ENT soon. I so worried because no one can tell me whats wrong. That scares the heck out of me. I dont want to be like this forever. It has truly altered my life!!

I'm 24 and experience exactly the same thing , although i have been experiencing this for 3 years - every single day i am light headed, dizzy, tired. At first, doctors thought it was migraine related so to be safe, i had a CT scan. This came out fine. Doctors then thought i could be diabetic but i have had repeat tests and they have all have come out fine. Doctors then thought i could be hypoglycemic but tests prove that i'm not. I have had my eyes checked and they are fine. Haven't had ears checked but something tells me that it's not that.

Sometimes i feel anxious, other times i feel like i'm always hungry when i have eaten really well. I can feel so down as my energy levels drop so low that sometimes all i want to do is sleep. It's hard when i feel like this at work as i lose the ability to concentrate.

I exercise about 4 or 5 times a week, i eat healthily, i don't smoke, i drink when i go out but not excessively.

It's so frustrating because I have no idea what it is and niether do the doctors i see. I'm glad there are others out there that feel the same way. I thought i was the only one.

I just read this thread from beginning to end. It surprises me that no Moderator or other health care professional has submitted any suggestions or helpful advice.

I am 61 and Male. Had by-pass (7X) about 6 years ago. Having bouts of lightheadedness for quite some time. Was scheduled for MRI, but after reading all the posts, decided to cancel, as my copay is about $1000 and since most of you have not had a definitive outcome from MRI why waste the $$$.

I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder about 15 years ago and am on a very mild ativan dosage which I take on an as needed basis.

Driving also minimizes my lightheadedness most of the time.

Blood pressure under control (125/70 most of the time) with minimal medication.

It doesn't seem to matter what I do, it is always there in the background.

I've heard SOOO many stories about a variety of cures from chiropractic for TMJ to accupunture, that I have no idea where to go from here. Problem is that the ligheadedness is a real obstacle to activities of daily living.

It would certainly be helpful if someone with some DEFINITIVE information chimed in.

I'm a 28 year old male; about 3 months ago I started to suffer with light-headedness. It started of a couple of times a week with a feeling that I wanted to pass out, then I got struck with a cold & ever since I’ve been suffering with constant light-headedness all day every day. I have had the odd day were I back to normal but other than that light-headedness takes over. Symptoms include confusion, short memory problems & vision problems, the world looks like a dream. I've been to my GP, did all the blood work tests, blood pressure, MRI & ct scan, seen an ENT & a neurologist & every thing has come back ok. It's really frustrating because it's affecting my job, social life & every day activities. Coffee, sweets & the slightest measure of alcohol will make the light-headedness 10 times worse. Its worrying because my GP & the neurologist said that it was a mystery & they didn’t know what was causing it. Just wondering if anyone's got any ideas or similar symptoms & I’m worried that I’ll have to spend the rest of my life feeling like this.

I figured I might as well chime in on this subject as well...

I am a 26 yo male who started having symptoms all of a sudden about a year ago. It came on strong one day when I was working and I just about fainted. It continued off and on for a couple of months with a constant feeling of lightheadedness, sometimes coupled with headaches. I have had an MRI, stress test, EKG, and blood work done, and all have come back normal.

The more research I do, the more it seems like it might be anxiety-related. This would make sense in my case as the first bout of it came when I was in a job working long hours and my wife was pregnant w/ our first child. The symptoms were present until the birth of our child and then settled down. I also have felt better after receiving news of all my positive test results. However, all of the symptoms (lightheaded, occasional blurred vision, headaches) have picked up again recently and I am wondering if this is because of more big life changes that are coming up.

Like others I am wondering if this is something I'm going to have to "deal with" the rest of my life! I don't really feel worked up about any of the things going on my life (other than this health issue) so I didn't believe that it was stress/anxiety related at first.

I have found that taking naps during the day has helped as a temporary solution, and I am trying to work more stress-easing activities into my life (ie. massages, being outside, yoga, etc.) Ideally, I would like to avoid taking meds if possible...

I turned thirty a few months ago, and for the last 3 or 4 weeks I have been getting the same thing off and on every day- sort of a buzzy lightheadedness- brief, feels like my head is full of cotton. Like another poster, I am a bit underweight, don't get enough exercise, and drink 1-2 cups of coffee everyday (and not enough water). Maybe not enough salt? Anxiety could be an issue too. I'm also on zoloft, doesn't seem to be in the list of side effects though. Pretty wierd. I guess if none of you have really found a diagnosis I might as well try to live healthier.

I just came across this thread and am shocked to see that this lightheadedness I've been having for the last 3 or 4 days is not something I just imagined. I am 30 too, that's crazy!! What's going on with us???

A few days after a minor sinus surgery, I began suffering dizziness (not vertigo, no spinning). Then I began feeling queasy with the dizziness. About a week post-op when I was back at work as a RN, I had severe lightheadedness and nausea, along with profound sweating, tremors and a racing heart. After 5 hours of this, I collapsed and was admitted to the hospital. MRI was normal other than sinus fluid and slightly but not worrisome enlarged ventricles. It was noted that I had supine bradycardia (my heart rate would drop to the 30's and 40's with sleep when flat). My dizziness was absent in the laying position, as was the nausea. I had a tilt table test and was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) which is a dysautonomia and my symptoms were being caused by a partial nervous system failure that was triggered from my immune system overreacting postoperatively. When awake, my heart rate was upper 40-50's when flat and immediately upon tilting, it went up to 133, and I had what felt like a massive adrenaline rush, sweating, palpatations, pre-fainting sensation and warm sensation all over my body. I spent 11 days in CCU trying to get to the point where I could walk 100 feet. I went home and was rehospitalized because I could not eat due to the nausea. I am on Sectral (a beta2 blocker) for the overactive sympathetic nervous system response, was on Florinef to increase my fluid volume, midodrine to cause my peripheral arteries to vasocontrict to increase blood flow to my brain, Paxil (which has been shown in 50% of POTS patients to help reregulate the autonomic system and to increase my appetite), and sleeping meds because I developed insomnia with all this.

Today, 2 months later, the nausea is much improved and the tachycardia, sweats, and pre-faint sensations are gone. I have bad tremors still and am always lightheaded to some degree because I move around alot now. The dizziness is more constant now that I move around, but it's not nearly as severe as it was in terms of intensity. It's just more frequent. It never goes away, but I can be distracted from it at times. I see a dysautonomia specialist at Duke now. I am still not returned to work but I can perform my activities of daily living nicely.

I am turning 30 in a few months and my lightheadedness and dizziness started about 2 weeks ago. I don't feel depressed or anxious, except about the dizziness. I drink a fair amount of caffeine, but have for years. Dizzy at 30 seems to be an epidemic.

OK, I'm 33 and for the past 5 days have been experiencing lightheadedness to the point of almost blacking out at times. My fingers tingle almost constantly & when I do almost reach the point of blacking out I can feel it in my chest too pushing, pulsating stronger then around my body and gone, except for my head and hands, then it loops- I am under a lot of stress so maybe that's it, but for 5 days straight? Sometimes it pulsates all the way through my feet...? I read about vertigo and it doesn't seem to fit. What is going on?

I am a 29 year old female and I just started having this lightheaded/dizziness about two months now. I went to the E.R. and they thought it was anxiety. I went to my primary doctor and he treated me for vertigo. The dizziness has decreased however, I still get lightheaded if I eat foods with a lot of sodium like buffalo wings or it just comes on suddenly. The feeling makes me very nerves that's probably why they other doctors are saying anxiety. If you know something is different about your body I would think it's only normal to experience anxiety. I don't know. I going back to my doctor in a few weeks and see what's the next step. I will post what happens.
