I had this surgery a week ago, and so far healing is good. I'm only disappointed that I'm told not to do anything active for 6 weeks; I thought it was 2, it's going to kill me to not be active. But if you like a restful vacation, it should be perfect!

I had TVTo surgery 23/10/13. Was due back at work this Thursday 7/11/13 (2 weeks) but my job consists of sitting (although only part time 4 1/2 hours per day) & that is the one thing I am finding it really uncomfortable to do. I can sit on my bottom (legs up) or stand or lie down but can't sit comfortably upright on a firm chair. After a trip to the local hospital & to the Drs on different days I have been uncomfortable on hard chairs after less than 40 minutes. There is definitely a stitch still at the entrance so I guess things perhaps are still somewhat swollen.
The Doctor readily agreed to a further week off (post operative recovery) saying still early days. Hospital signed me off sick for 2 weeks on discharge then said speak to Dr for further weeks needed & that I really should not consider going back before 2 weeks at the earliest. Now I will be going into 3rd week post surgery do many other people find sitting properly difficult? I can sneeze, bend down & it's worked but I am finding when I need to go I need to go quite quickly. Again is this normal - I am seated about as far from the toilets as I could be? Work had also mentioned a phased return to maybe 3 hours but I really don't feel up to even this yet. I have 3 children (all caesarian sections - but birth weights 8lb 3oz,8lb 2.5, 7lb 7oz in just under 5 years - youngest almost 16 - I recovered in no time from Caesarians. I have recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes but not found blood clotting slower than usual plus I am 50 next birthday.

I'm having the same problem. I had the surgery on Monday 2-24-14 and here it is Saturday and when I try to urinate it just trickles out then I have to self catherize myself. Just want to know how long this will last. What we women have to go through.

I had a bladder sling put in last Fri. (03/27/15. I understand being sent home with a foley catheter. The surgical area is very inflammed and swollen I applied cold packs which felt wonderful! Having medical experience, I removed the foley catheter after 24 hours because I could feel my bladder waking up. I have had some bladder spasms. They are minimal now.
Last evening I took an easy walk at the beach as the sun was setting. I walked 3 miles. So for me, activity is playing an important part in my quick recovery.
I have not leaked a drop! I am urinating 150 cc's, which is 4 ounces. I was given some straight catheters to make sure I'm emptying my bladder. When the residual is at 150cc's I don't need to do that anymore.
It also depends on the way the surgery is done. Going through the groins is a better way. The recovery time is much less and you usually don't have to go home with a foley catheter.

I feel so bad for you. Has it gotten any better? I just has prolapsed organ surgery 3 days ago and the second night I was in a lot of pain, but wasn't using pain killers like I should have. I've been feeling better and urinating okay, but waited too long today and was shocked when I had absolutely no control as I headed to the bathroom! I will try to go more often and "retrain" my bladder. I hope and pray things improve!
