Is it the same as a regular period?

Hi. Ovulation is the couple of days of the month that a girl can get pregnant. Usually it occurs about two weeks before the next period is due. It is when the egg is released. If there has been unprotected sex in the week before this (sperm can live for up to 7 days) or on the day of ovulation itself, there is a chance of pregnancy. The egg only lives for 12-24 hours. After this time, if the egg is not fertilised it continues to travel down the fallopian tube and into the uterus where it will be expelled in the next menstrual period

If you had unprotected sex and then got your period then there is very little chance of you being pregnant. Please don't make unprotected sex a standard practice, if you don't like/forget to use condoms then consider another contraceptive to prevent pregnancy (saves sooo much worry)

What if my girl and I had unprotected sex, and she has missed her period by 1 day, but it's fairly normal for her period to change...should I seek a pregnancy test? And if so, what is the most accurate of them?

Also what about unprotected sex on birth control? Is it safe, or should protection still be used?
