The lady taking Mirana the side effects you listed besides the discharge are those of an allergic reaction.. dizzy ness.. You should have it removed. Has anyone tried whats called Diflucan .. sometimes yeast infections are too strong for the otc creams and need the oral .I have the same discharge like toilet paper.. but I am sad to say it is a yeast infection. Its due to a combination therapy of antibiotics and hormones. Quite typically as I see we all have in common as hormone inbalance. If you do not know of one you should have your testosterone levels checked. This is in response to an infusement of estrogen. I am aware of this because I just recently began my hormone therapy two weeks ago and this is when my new characteristic began. I am on estradiol / estrogen therapy low dose. I am almost sure and will let you know how it goes. Diflucan is typically a one dose therapy but i received two because I told them the resistance to the otc monstat(three day) take on pill and then 4 days later another. I took mine at three and the vulva and surrounding lips were almost peeling do the dryness of the lack there of moisture. My lips were swollen and actually I have ripped a bit. This is very uncomfortable and painful. I just had a pap three weeks ago with an std analsys and have not had sex for a month so I feel Its pretty acurate. Results unremarkable. Try the Diflucan. Currently Kmart is having a special at the Pharmacy what ever you spend for perscription you will get back in a gift card just ask for the coupon. So you in essence get the script free.

I've been having this same thing and have only noticed it for 2 days now. I'm 18 and have only had 2 partners. I am not on birth control and I have had yeast infections before. I really would like to know what this is. Anyone know if this is a sign of pregnancy? I'm really hoping it isn't! I've always used condoms but now I'm afraid of what this could mean.

I also have the same thing going on with me. Except the area is irritated and itches

it's smegma (you know, like guys get..but they call it "penis cheese", gross). For some odd reason people think that girls don't get it, but they do. It's nothing to worry about, just wash it away with warm water because it can dry up and go hard which can cause irritation or pain if it gets stuck under your clitoral hood. I know, it sounds gross, but it's perfectly normal.

Have you ever thought it could just be the toilet paper your using ?
like it gets in there after wiping kind of thing.

Hi ladies and thank you all so very much for posting! It's good to know I'm not alone.
Where to begin...first of all, I am a medical microbiologist and have been trying to figure out this problem-for me and the rest of us. The docs seem clueless.
I have been sexually active for 17 years and have been on bc pills the whole time. Some protected sex, some unprotected. I have had many male partners throughout my life, though they are typically long term and monogamous. I have had the occasional yeast infection, but nothing else weird.
After being single (and celibate) for about 2 years, I began seeing my current boyfriend. We were not using condoms (he has been screened for all STDs and so was I) and nearly Every Single Time we have sex I end up with symptoms of a UTI AND yeast infection!!! What really frightened me was the discharge that looked like wet toilet paper. Being the scientist and tough to gross me out, I examined the discharge. When stretched out, it is nothing more than a SHEET! of epithelial (skin) cells. Very elastic, no odor. Sloughing of sheets of epithelial cells is consistent with a chemical burn...yeah, freaky!...read on...
My doctor did a urinalysis and a "wet mount" (which is a microscope slide made from a vaginal swab). Urinalysis showed elevated white blood cells but nothing else. The wet mount showed no yeast, but TONS of Lactobacillus, which I thought was unusual to have so much, but it is considered normal flora...so I was prescribed antibiotics for the "UTI" and diflucan for the "yeast infection". They did nothing. It kind of clears up on its own, but returns a day or so after sex and can last up to 3 weeks. MISERABLE!
We started using condoms and after that, no more misery. Til this last time. We used a condom and I am right back in the same boat. I had been so hopeful and now feel pretty crushed.
I found this thread and started reading the research papers on cytolytic vaginosis/vaginitis. It makes a lot of sense to me as a microbiologist. Lacto is normal flora. So is MRSA, so is C. diff. But when delicate ecosystems shift, our normal bacteria can overgrow and cause major problems. Lacto produces acidic byproducts of its metabolism, which makes our vaginas a bit acidic. Normally, that's a good thing. It keeps more harmful bacteria from overgrowing or even setting up house at all.
On the flipside, if the Lactobacillus overgrows, it acidifies us too much. And Bam! Too much acid=a natural chemical burn. It hurts, it itches, it causes the skin it has killed to slough off and come out!
I am seeing my primary doc tomorrow but am not optimistic. I am curious to try this baking soda bath/capsule thing. It seems like the goal is to raise the pH, but just enough. Raise it too much and we will have a negative effect. It may end up being a situation where I need to try to maintain the ecosystem balance...
I know that some of the posters here likely just have a simple yeast infection or a UTI, but not all of us. I will post updates on my case if they are relevant.
I want us all to understand what is happening here. Please, if you have questions, post 'em. I can field a lot of them and will do my best to answer. If I don't know the answer, I won't pretend to, like our docs do.
Sorry this was so long, I tried to keep it concise...and good luck...

I am at a point right now where I'm getting depressed. I am seeing the doctor tomorrow but have no hopes of being "cured". My symptoms are LOTS of thick, clumpy, "toilet paper" looking discharge. It seems to be more when I walk or run or just move around in general. I did a ph level test today and it came out to 4.5, so.. normal.
Could it be a yeast infection even though I dont have the itching and burning? This has been going on during the past 6 months and I've never had the characteristic itching and burning. Could it be a yeast infection even though my discharge looks more like wet paper and not the usual cottage cheese? I tried Monistat for 3 days but I dont remember if it helped. I know for SURE the symptoms came back after Monistat.....
It's taking a toll on me mentally. I really hope doctors can come up with a cure that actually works. I also hope they start taking this condition seriously. To me, it seems lite doctors give the diagnose BV or yeast infection becuase that's what they THINK it is.
Please keep this thread going because it's the only thing that can comfort me. Knowing that there are others out there who go through what I do and actually understands when I try to explain....

I am going to cry. I have had this too. On and off for a couple of months and since it goes away and comes back I sort of just didn't pay too much attention to it. White, clumpy, toilet paper like. No scent. No irritation What the hell is going on with us? What are we going to do? Are most women on birth control? I am and people seem to think that might be the problem. Ladies please keep posting with your updates.... =[

i recently went and had this problem for a few weeks, but along with some burning, irritation, and pain during intercourse. it turns out i had strep (yes in my vagina) along with a mild yeast infection.

Been having this white discharge for years. Been reading about Yeast/Candida imbalance in body (not a yeast infection) and it makes sense. Google it. There is a special diet prescribed. This candida overgrowth has been linked to Estrogen/progestrone imbalance. Some symptoms could be hightened allergies as well. Which all make sense for me as I started to see this discharge about the same time I started getting allergic to everything. o.O

I'm 22 years old and am sexually active, and not on any birth controls. I have noticed the clumpy white residue on random occasions during sex...and have recently been getting more discharge even when not on my period. It's to the point where I have to wear a mini-pad so as not to leave my panties crusty. It will come and go randomly though, I'm not sure if there is a pattern. There is no irritation of any kind, and the smell is not anything out of the ordinary. Recently I have been noticing some cramps in my lower abdomen that are much like period cramps except not as severe (when I'm no where NEAR menstruation!). These little crumbles are smeared all over my bf after sex, and it's disgusting. I don't think its an infection or excess lactobacilli because there is no irritation. It seems as if its not dangerous enough to be categorized and identified...but sure is annoying as hell!

Hi Everyone, I have been dealing with this problem for over 4 years, I am 45 and have not had intercourse for over 7 years. (widdowed) I am not on any kind of birth control, had my tubes tied after my second child, (C-Section) 15 years ago. Just one day about 4 years ago my discharge changed. White Clumpy heavy discharge, at times looking like wet toilet paper, and large amounts of it, table spoons of it inside me.
I have tried every over the counter yeast infection product out there with no relief. I have no pain, no swelling, no smell, no itching, the only symtom is the large amount of white clumpy discharge.
I have read every post and was excited to know that I was not alone, but as I kept reading no one knows how to cure this problem. The medical microbiologist that posted earlier in January, can you please give us or me an update on what you have found out?
My doctor has no answer for me and basically told me to live with it.
I too will try just about anything to go back to a normal discharge, so I am going to try the baking soda and will check back weekly to this site hoping on some news on a cure.
