Why do my breasts hurt so bad? I a am a 49 yr. old woman who had a complete hysterectomy 20 yrs ago for health reasons. My breast are in so much pain. I was on HTR for years then my insurance wouldn't cover them anymore so I was off for almost a yr. I started a new HTR patch, but my boobs were hurting even before I started those about 2 months ago. Touching them to put a bra on is awful. Can someone please tell me what's going on. Thanks.

Hello alleykatt,
So, you're 49 and you have been on HRT and stopped and then began again with a patch. Prior to this you had breast pain and it is still continuing. Changes in hormone levels can often bring about breast pain. This may not be bad other than you have discomfort. I had breast pain when I was going through menopause so I know what it feels like. Anything touching the breast hurts particularly a bra. This is a symptom that you should have checked out by your doctor to make sure you don't have any serious problems just to be on the safe side. I'm assuming you have a prescription for your patch. Maybe all you need to do is tell your doctor over the phone and he/she can answer quickly.

Yes, I do have a script. I seen an endocrinologist about 4 mos. ago and my hormone levels were within range. They itch like crazy too especially around the nipple area.
