Woke up with itchy rash after I had my blood drawn!

I got my blood drawn Tuesday morning to get my thyroid checked, and today I woke up with a bumpy rash under my bicep and the insides of my elbows were extremely itchy. I seem to itch all over now, but only have these rashes inside of my elbow and above my armpit, and on the backs of my knees, which are very itchy.

Well, it seem like an allergic reaction. It could be eczema or hives. Atopic dermatitis is the most common type of eczema, and it is caused by an abnormal response to the body's immune system. Contact dermatitis is a skin reaction (dermatitis) resulting from exposure to allergens (allergic contact dermatitis) or irritants (irritant contact dermatitis). I hope that the needle was clean while you were getting your blood drawn. Are you using any new soaps, lotions, deodorants?

Is it a latex allergy? What kind of band aid covered your arm after the blood draw?

My arm does the same thing it is a reaction to the stuff they use to clean your arm off. It happens every time.

I had the same thing happen to me after donating platelets. I believe it may be a latex allergy from what I'm seeing. It's on both inside arms where the red bandages were. They say to check yourself for a latex allergy.

That's too funny! The same thing happened to me when I donated blood last week. The nurse rubbed the inside of my elbow for a long time with something that smelt like alcohol. Ever since then, the inside of my elbow has had a rash, constantly itchy. I suspected the alcohol, but now I see that I'm not the only one.

Had the same thing too! Also, a thyroid levels check, oddly enough, someone in my MCS group told me that I can get hydrogen peroxide wipes and refuse the alcohol wipes next time...

Did you get nauseous after the draw?... I did... Weird, and my rashes were burning red lines...

I have had alot of blood drawn and never had this problem til the last time i had it done.I wonder if they changed the company they get the alcohol swabs from or the company changed something in it.Very strange

Did you find out what this was? My wife and 5 year old son have it but I do not. They had a different phlebotomist than I did.

Same exact thing happened to me. Rash at the blood draw site for about a month. ever find out what this was? It itches like crazy. Never had this reaction from getting blood drawn before.

I have the same condition after blood was drawn a few days ago on one arm. I did shower so there is soap & cream on arm. Can I use HydroCortisone plus 1% on it?

I also had the same problem but after blood donation, I got some rash inside the elbow of the same hand I do donation.
