So its almost a month now I am on YAZ. My reason for getting on BC in the first place was irregular periods. So when my doctor introduced me to YAZ explaining how it will help regulate my period and help with fertility I was in awe. I am a hypothyroid patient and on Eltroxin 0.05mg. My periods about a few months ago started so heavy, started clothing in golf ball sizes. So bad that I thought I was losing my uterus!

Anyway I 1 month on YAZ and still bleeding. Bear in mind that was my reason getting on BC in the first place. The DR continues to insist that it will get better over time. I am getting really irritated, frustrated because I have been bleeding for over 3 months. Of course this doesnt sound healthy.

Reading some of the post here I see many suffer weight gain and hair loss, 2 major traumatic elements I have went through with my hypothyroidism. I am just hoping that this will not surface again. No woman wants to go through this.

I would hate to think that the doctor is only prescribing YAZ because of sined contracts as someone mentioned in an earlier post. Is there a doctor on the forum that can help me?

I am 29, diagnosed with hypothyroidism, irregular bleeding (non stop) and hoping in time to fall pregnant. PLEASE PLEASE help.

Well, I've tried Yasmin myself and I loved it, tho I had weird feelings now and again in my body here or there and often when I'd get in the mood, I'd have a headache. However... I have PTSD, Anxiety & Depression, but when I was on Yasmin... I felt myself again. I was happy -which I cannot tell you how much that means to me, I lost weight and well.. I felt like a person again. I'm kinda crying right now irl as I type this, to me it was the best medicine I've ever been on & I think I regret getting off it.

You see, my (former) friend told me to get off it, because of the big scare and how people've died and had blood clots.... but now that I've been off Yasmin and tried others and I'm on nothing right now, I'm considering returning to Yasmin... I wanna be me again. I miss /me/ and I miss my sanity- my levels of Depression are skyrocketing and I don't want any part of that.

Tbh, I'm afraid that it'd be safer for me to go on Yasmin and risk the blood clots than to do nothing and let my Depression get any worse, because at this point I've been having constant suicidal thoughts & I want it to stop, badly.

This person above has no idea what they are talking about, sorry. There are pages and pages of women here documenting and explaining that they have very real side effects and changes when switching between YAZ and Yasmin and the above comment regarding negligible differences between the two bc pills undermines such complaints.

I myself have gained a cup size switching from YAZ to Yasmin and it kind of angers me to see someone (who sounds male might I add) saying the difference is negligible. How do you know what 10mg is and how it is relative to hormones in the body? You don't. Sounds like a male pharmacist or med student putting in their two cents. Well, I hate to be a downer here but pharmacists aren't really informed about physical changes that occur from changing hormone levels, they are trained to learn about possible risks when medicating patients, not short term physiological changes that come from a 10mg difference in estrogen.

OMG!! Thank God I came to this site!! I have been on Yasmin for 5 years now after the birth of my girl, before that was also a few years until I got married. In Singapore, there is no Yaz probably coz our Government knows its harmful but I just returned from Phuket & bought 2 packs of Yaz, as they pharmacy says there were 28pills so i don't have to stop taking it? But if it causes so much effect, I guess I would not wanna try it.

But, if any of you guys would like to try, I would send it to you from Singapore, just pay me for its postage will do. As I've decided to stick to Yasmin, I didn't gain weight & skin is great! Juz that its expensive here. Like abt SGD30-35 a pack for Yasmin or Diane 35 is also a great option! BUT, I might wanna try a few days. Coz I'm divorced now, taking only for weight & great skin. I think diff people react diffly to drugs like these. IF, i do switch, do I wait that 7 days b4 trying Yaz?

Love, Denize Pereira

Hi all, I am currently on Ginette and considering changing to Yamin as it is apparently not good to be on Ginette when 35 years old and older. I just turned 35.

I was on Yasmin once before and i was very emotional. Has anyone made the switch from Ginette to Yasmin. How did you find the change?

I was on yaz for about 2 years and my clinic was out last time i went in for my exam and resupply. Now I am on yasmin for almost 3 weeks and my nipples hurt so bad its got me conscerned. The clinic said it was prob because of the switch since yasmin is a higher dose to wait anohter 2 weeks. Has anyone else had this problem?

I was on Yasmin for 6 years, once I started taking it I dropped 15 lbs, looked great and felt great! After the birth of my kids, I asked for Yasmin. I knew right off it wasn't right, I bleed over half the month. Have had the worst migraines I've ever had; gained weight and lost hair. I continued to take it and after a few months I started having lots if problems during sex, I was always dry. I went back to the doctor and he basically told me to buy some KY jelly and that I was low on estrogen but that's going to happen with any pill. So I've suffered a few more months, and while I was at my family doctor about other things, BC came up in conversation and it turns out, I've been on generic Yaz this whole time. I am not happy! So my family doc gave me my Yasmin back and I can't wait to see how much better I feel and if I'll lose some of this weight!

Hi- I was on Yaz before due to PCOS and to reduce acne. I became so depressed and bloated. It was such a drastic reaction as I am positive by nature. I have switched to Yasmin and it has helped my acne and I have only gained half a kilo, and breasts are pretty big though (which is not a good thing if you are already an 8F cup size). The only negative I have experienced is that I feel suspicious/ paranoid. To the point I accused my partner of having an affair whilst he was at a work dinner and I know all his colleagues. So he thought I was psycho. I actually felt like it after that incident. But I am starting to feel paranoid about everything. Has anyone come across this side affect?

What are you on about woman? Yasmin and Yaz Yaz and Yasmin contain the progestin drospirenone, which has anti-androgen properties, and can therefore be particularly helpful in women experiencing female pattern hair loss.
‘Some progesterone-based pills, including those containing levonorgestrel, norgestrel and norethisterone, as well as tibolone, may induce or worsen hair loss,’ say the Melbourne researchers.
So there's a HUGE difference between pills. Do your research properly!!!!

I think most of the people here have had bad experiences with Yaz, after switching from Yasmin. Well, I just started on Yaz (4th day) and although I am not having any side effects yet, aside from tolerable breast tenderness, I am now worried I'll eventually be having them, after reading all the negative feedback on Yaz. As people have pointed out, Yaz is not cheap, so I guess I'm sticking to this one until I finish this pack. I really hope it works fine for me, considering that I started with Yaz, instead of switching from Yasmin, like most people here.

It's actually 10mcg... And based on how you sound, seems like Yasmin isn't doing well for your mood.

I went from yaz to yazmin because I cant find yaz where I live, I am now 3 months on yasmin and finally figured why I am suddenly struggling with weight gain. its the yaszmin. My Dr. said yaz will make me lose a kg or 2 and it did, Yazmin is definitely making me gain and I need to find a way to go back to yaz

Hi, I've been on yaz for years. I love it but it will RAISE your blood pressure. Also, stay hydrated because it is a diuretic, and don't smoke! It did wonders for my horrible pms also!

I was on yaz for years and it kept weight off. Id go off it from time to time and gain weight. When i stsrted taking it again slimmed down. Ive been off it for over a year and gained 30 lbs. Just started it again, one week in, and already feel a difference of less appetite and weight loss. Does make me a bit hormonally unstable, crazy though.
