Hi. I have been taking Methadone for last two years and now I’m thinking about to try Suboxen, but I’m afraid of withdrawal symptoms. Can you tell me something more about Suboxen and give me some tips how to use it?

Hello! Probably you have to reduce your daily dose of Methadone at the minimum. Then you should ask your doctor to prescribe you Suboxen. I don’t know what your current dose is, but usually the current dose should be reduced on 30 mgs before starting Suboxen therapy. However, ask your doctor before you choose next drug. Good luck, mate!

Well i've been on suboxen for 6months...and it really saved my life... we had aman in group that was on the metadone and went to suboxen and he is doing really well... suboxen is better than the methadone.

Well first of all I must say that I have never been addicted to methadone but as a former... and current heroin user, I can tell you that heroin withdrawals are horrible. 3 days without drinkign water, 5 days without holding down food, and a week with ache's, pains, and sweats.

I have heard from other people and read on many websites that methadone withdrawal is actually worse than heroin withdrawal. From all this research I have learned that suboxone withdrawals are not as as intense as methadone.
My point being... go for the suboxone, but consult with your doctor and go to support groups.

I am plannin on goin to the doctor Monday. If I had a week to spare again I would go cold turkey but I have a job with which I can not be gone for that long.

Stay strong.

Just to let You know I am taking Suboxen. This drug is hands down a miracle drug. There are absolutely NO withdraws off of this medicine! Suboxen takes away your withdraws completly and has no side effects. Take it from someone who is experienced methodone IS NOT the way to go. Withdraws off of methadone is the worst thing to come off of. It is legal dope. My advice to you is to lower your methadone dosage and get on the Suboxen. It will be the best thing you can do with your life!!!!

I just paid for suboxen twice this month...for my daughter.
the first Rx was $259.60 at walgreens. the second Rx was $343.44 at walgreens. The dose was increased in the second bottle. i don't know how many miligrams she takes..she is relatively new to the drug...taking about 6 weeks so far....but she is now taking it twice a day. Her insurance usually pays 80%....but her insurance was cancelled due to the fact that she was late with a payment for a secon time in a year. thank God we were able to appeal that decision and get the iinsurance reinstated.
I don't know if there are any government programs that would help handle the cost of suboxen. I was going to go looking if we couldn't get the insurance back. She is not on medicaid or medicare but buys High Riisk Heallth Insurance from the state of Wisconsin

If you are not already on methadone, please stay that way. The withdrawals of trying to get away from it have put me in an ambulence and in the hospital twice now just because I forgot to take it in time to avoid them. And you do NOT want to go through those withdrawals. Those two withdrawal periods in my life from methadone were THE two worst days of my entire life. Don't do it!! (I don't know if being on methadone temporarily would be the same or not. If I could go back myself, I wouldn't mess with it at all. Not even for a few days.)
