Unsightly cellulite? Keep cellulite at bay by eating these essential super foods and keep your skin clear, smooth and bump-free.

Tired of trying to cover up your cellulite?

You are not alone in your quest to end cellulite — and the (often expensive) treatments recommended by the American Academy of Dermatology do deliver results, even if they are only temporary. If you've taken these time-consuming and pricey steps to reduce your cellulite, its important to know that your battle with "orange peel skin" doesn't necessarily end with fancy procedures or trips to the spa. Cellulite can always return and you'll always have to work hard to keep it at bay. We've compiled a list of super foods which can help banish cellulite for good (because you'll keep eating them)!

Colorful Fruits and Veggies to Combat Cellulite

Colorful fruits and veggies that play a role in reducing the appearance of cellulite and increasing your general health in the process include oranges, grapefruits, melons, green, yellow, orange and red peppers, spinach, kale, cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, zucchini, eggplant, beans, peas, corn, and more. Have a look around the veggie section of your local grocery store, and ask yourself how many servings you have of these important foods each day. Looking to maintain a healthy diet means anywhere from 5 to 10 servings each day. One serving is a portion that fits in the palm of your hand- not impossible by any means!

You should be able to have a large portion of these with each meal and in between meals.

These super foods will help to cleans your system and shock you full of vitamins and minerals. Vitamin C is a particular one of interest. Many fruits and veggies have vitamin C, and you'll be getting steady doses throughout the day. Vitamin C aids in collagen building. That's the stuff you want to keep your skin tight, and keep cellulite out of sight.

Whole Foods

The next step is to start looking for the word “whole”. Replace your “white” and “enriched” foods for whole grain foods. Cereals and grains are important for energy, but won't allow you to easily store fat the way white, enriched, processed grains do.

These superfoods include whole brown rice, whole oats, and whole grains like popcorn. The idea that carbs are “bad” is a part of the diet fads, and is not true. Carbohydrates are an important macro-nutrient we need to maintain good energy levels, and to maintain normal cell function.

The distinction should be made that these whole foods will stop the increase of fat build up because they are slow burning and do not convert to sugar immediately after consumption. They will provide long-lasting energy, and fill you up quickly, avoiding over-eating. Small portions of whole foods with colorful foods is a sure fire way to get rid of cellulite. They are also known as complex carbs, and unlike simple carbs, are less likely to cause fat cells to swell up and protrude through the layers of skin.

If you are committed to having healthy and balanced meals, you should have no more than 6 servings of carbohydrates in a day. Try to get half, if not all, of those servings to be from whole grains. Not only does this help you stay healthy in general, research has also shown that people who eat large quantities of carbs while neglecting other food groups have more and deeper cellulite.

Remember, drink 8 to12 glasses of water throughout the day (not juice, infused water, or tea), eat as many differently colored foods as possible, and eat whole grains whenever you can. Follow these methods and you can say bye to your cellulite sooner than you thought possible.

Of course, these dietary steps are only part of the picture — factors like your age, genetics, and hormonal balance also play a large role in causing cellulite. Eating well will, however, reduce the appearance of cellulite significantly.
