Coffee Can Boost Female Libido
Recently, scientists have conducted an interesting study. During this study, researchers experimented by giving certain dose of coffee to female rats for consumption. The experiment indicated that female rats that consumed coffee, show significantly more interest in mating compared to those female rats who did not consume coffee. Scientists believe that this experiment confirms the belief that coffee and caffeine, which is in it, stimulates part of the brain that regulate arousal. However, it should be noted that female rats had never before consumed caffeine, so a similar effect in humans could be achieved only in people who do not drink coffee regularly.

Caffeine is a stimulant and as such could encourage physical activity. Also, drinking coffee can temporarily reduce or postpone our desire to eat. Different studies found that coffee consumption may lead to a slight acceleration of the calorie burning process. But none of the above will lead to drastic incentives on weight loss. On the contrary, excessive consumption may lead to adverse effects, because coffee is rarely consumed without additives in the form of sugar, milk etc.

Coffee Grows On Trees
It may seem strange to the uninformed, but it is so - coffee grows on trees! Coffea is a genus of flowering plants, whose fruits - coffee berries, contains seeds known as coffee beans. Coffee beans are used to make popular beverage. This plant is native to Africa and tropical Asia. If you would let coffea tree to grow in the wild, it could reach up to 10 meters of height. However, coffee growers restrict growth of the tree to 2-3 meters for purely practical reasons - simpler vintage. Coffea trees succeed in tropical habitats. Temperature should be above 20°C and climate should have high level of precipitation. Coffea tree is very sensitive and intolerant to low temperatures.

After Oil, Coffe Is The Second Most Traded Commodity
Coffee has become very popular in Europe in the second half of the XVII century. Very soon, the European powers of that time launched mass production of coffee in their overseas colonies. From that time coffee is one of the most traded commodities, currently second only to oil. The annual coffee consumption exceeds 12 billion pounds. Over 25 million people in more than 50 countries worldwide are involved in coffee production. The world's largest coffee producer is Brazil followed by Colombia, Mexico, Vietnam and Indonesia. It sounds amazing, but coffee plants cover more than 11 million hectares of the world's arable land.

Coffee Seed Is Red
"There is no such thing as red coffee!" in a future you will think twice before saying something like that. Coffee berries, fruits of the coffee tree, are red or purple. Berries become red or purple when they are ripe, until then they are green. Also, coffee seeds are sometimes called cherries. Each berry (or cherry) usually contains two flat coffee beans, and practice estimates there are about 5% of berries that contain only one oval coffee bean. However, these oval beans are considered to be special type and they are called peaberry or caracoli. It is widely believed that oval coffee beans roast better than the flat ones.

Goats That Discovered Coffee
There is one very interesting tail about discovery of coffee. Legend says that once upon a time in ancient Ethiopia, there was a tired goatherd who noticed that his goats were dancing around tree with small red fruits. Goatherd was delighted with this funny behavior, so he decided to try this unknown fruit himself. As soon as he tasted the fruit, which will turn out to be coffee, his fatigue was gone. The joyful goatherd picked all of the coffee berries and went to his village. Villagers liked coffee and its effect, so later they used it to stay awake during their all-night long prayers.

Coffe Can Have An Effect of A Painkiller
Many different studies were conducted in order to show whether coffee can act as a natural painkiller. In one of these experiments, 50 volunteers put their hands into freezing water, which of course after a short while, caused pain. The experiment was about how long volunteers could hold their hands in freezing water. Volunteers who were given a dose of 250 mg of caffeine, which is an equivalent to a double espresso, were capable of keeping their hands in the cold water for longer time. Another interesting fact is that the "painkiller effect" was much more noticeable in women than men.

Arabica Is The Most Popular Sort In The World
First sort of coffee which was grown up and cultivated is Coffea Arabica. It is believed that cultivation of Coffea Arabica started some 1,000 years ago in the Arabian peninsula, particularly in the mountains and hills of the area which is now part of Republic of Yemen. Currently, nearly 80% of coffee that is available on the world market comes from the coffea Arabica plants. It takes 6-7 years to fully mature. There are plantations as low as sea level and as high as 2,500m. Coffea Arabica contains the least caffeine of all other cultivated species of coffee, which also makes it less bitter than other sorts.

Instant Coffee Was Invented By George Washington Himself
Believe it or not, but it's true! Instant coffee was invented by George Washington. No, this is not the George Washington from the 1 dollar banknote. Instant coffee was invented by George Constant Louis Washington, an emigrant from Belgium. In 1909, he started to sell his invention and already in 1910 he founded his own company for mass production of instant coffee. He succeeded to enrich during the First World War, when he becomes a main supplier of instant coffee to the U.S. military. The use of coffee (and caffeine) on the battlefield was considered to be very important for maintaining endurance, morale and combat readiness of the troops.
