I am 20 years of age; on the 08/06/2012 I had a termination leaving the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Dunedin hospital saying they had removed the fetus. But two days later 10/06/2012 I was admitted to hospital with abdominal pain and PV bleeding. They then realized that the termination was uncompleted. I still had a fair bit of tissue left in my uterus. Vaginal examinations were done and there was evidence of retained products on a TV US scan. Over night I was in serious pain and was on constant pain killers including regular morphine. Throughout the night I spontaneously passed a fetus PV, making all doctors and gyn doctors believe I had twins. I spiked a temp of 38.7 degrees centigrade; a repeat scan revealed more retain products. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Eventually I had another ERPOC done under general anesthesia (11/06/2012) that was uncomplicated. I was discharged on the 12th June 2012 with the doctor saying again they had removed all the tissue. No follow up was made and I was sent home with antibiotics.
I re-presented myself on the 14/06/2012. Since discharged on 12/06/2012 I had been passing clots and still in allot of abdominal pain. I was tested for Chlamydia and Gonoreehoea with negative results. I was then admitted over night for observations PV bleeding settled and was discharged again 15/06/2012. Again no follow up was made.
16th June 2012 7am: I woke up with a large amount of blood on my sheets and my pad was completely full with a large golf ball size clot on it. I got up light headed and went to the toilet loosing alot on of blood. as I stood up I noticed I was dripping but remembering what the doctor had told me I was going to loose some blood and a few big clots so I decided to go back to bed laying a clean towel under me and fresh pair of underware and putting two pads in. 8.15am I woke again but this time I was in a horrible pain a cramping pain also felt like I wanted to push now and then. I sat up slowly only to feel like I had wet myself but really it was blood. At this point I new something wasn’t right and I woke up my mum. I was now screaming in agony and had blood running down each side of my leg. I was having contractions the pain would come and cramp so much I couldn’t move, clots the size of my palm were coming out. I quickly changed my pads putting 3 clean ones in and had a towel under my legs. I was dizzy and pale and loosing alot of blood. Within the next half hour they were full I was hemorrhaging. I had lost too much blood and an ambulance was on its way. I was admitted again (16th June 2012) I had IV morphine in ambulance and in ED. I was then examined again showing heavy fresh bleeding and products of conception were removed. TV USS showed retain product again in upper uterine cavity, this did not pass with Missoprostil but still passing clots the size of livers. later that night I received a blood transfusion as my blood count had gone from 118mg to 83mg.
18/06/2012 I was taken to theatre for repeat dilatation and curettage under USS guidance. No complications.
19/06/2012 the gyn doc and doctor came into see me telling me that they had removed all they could see on the USS and finally think they have removed all tissue. I was then told I could go home today, I didn’t want to I was scared that I would be there again with a day just like every other time. But I left and was discharged 19/06/2012 with antibiotics and pain killers. This time a follow up was made for 1 week.
