Not true!.. Any clot larger than a golf ball is abnormal after a medical or surgical abortion. Please do your research before implying false information.

Hi Nessa,

Whilst abortion is a controversial subject, I certainly would never judge someone who has had to make that decision. It isn't taken lightly, and you never know the full circumstances around someones decision. Abortion clinics offer a lot of advice and have councilors as well to help women make the best decision for their circumstances.

I am pro-choice and sometimes it is not in the women's best interest to continue a pregnancy if there is an alternative.

I hope women everywhere are given the choice (which is THEIR choice and no one else's) and are never judged for it.

Wow- this is exactly what I'm going through this week. The pain was nothing I have ever felt in my life crippling all down my back and front. I had taken so many painkillers I knocked out and when I woke there was a large round 4 inch tissue playdo light pink tissue in my undies. I'm absolutely shook I havnt been able to function. I had a surgical and this is 5 weeks after, all my bleeding has been spotting until that awful night. I'm at a loss at what it is.... although I feel I know :(
Sorry to know others have had this awful feeling x

Why do people like you comment on posts like this? No one is asking whether an abortion is the best choice or whether we can get help with diapers or bibs. We’re asking why the f**k we have blood clots coming out months later. Go get a life somewhere and mind your own business.

You shouldn't judge other people's situations you don't know why someone may need an abortion it's not always financial some people make a mistake n realize they don't want a kid or another one

It's the remaining amniotic sack that is fibrous and somewhat dense. It may or may not have a somewhat foul odor but is usually the size of a golf ball and completely normal. Cramping is a good thing as long as it doesn't come with a fever, chills, etc. Cramping is your body's natural response to help expel something that no longer belongs. Hope this helps. Don't panic and breathe:)

I had a late term surgical less than a week ago and I've had this large, hard, dark brown, grissley type of tissue coming out, it's covered in what looks like a grape leaf (I clearly know that's not what it is but). I know this is gross but I have no idea what it is or if I should be worried. My bleeding is pretty light but normal in color. Practically no cramping. I just don't know what to think. Should I wait for my follow up appt?

This puts me at ease as i had this (passing tissue) earlier in the week, 1 month after medical, and have had heavy bleeding since and started to pass clots this morning. Thank you.

Hi,
So this could be like left over tissue is expelled out. Uterus cleaned completely.

I am currently going through this and looking for answers. I had an abortion 2 months ago. I’ve been bleeding every day since. It stopped once a week ago, I had what I thought was my normal period for the last 5-6 days, and then I stopped bleeding entirely yesterday. Confident this was the end, I wore normal underwear without any period products. Then, at the end of my work day, I felt bleeding and ran to the bathroom. I passed a decent sized clot and had bright red, watery blood everywhere. I’m soaking through pads quickly. I know it’s abnormal, but I’m terrified to see a doctor. My family can’t know, but I’m still on their insurance. I can’t afford to keep seeing a doctor. Does this eventually stop?????

This is literally EXACTLY what happened to me, play by play. Today, I had really bad cramping and after hours of pain and pushing against the cramps, I passed a blood clot bigger than a golf ball and an approximately 3 inch piece of fibery tissue that varied in texture. It was terrifying - I took the tissue in a specimen-type cup to bring to my doctor next week. I hope this is the end of it! There are seriously not enough good resources out there for women dealing with this. Both of my doctors insisted I was just having clotting and pain from my returning period!!! Overall this has been a pretty scary experience and I would not wish this on anyone!
