Sorry, one more thing: You said you were a pro bodybuilder.

Did you ever have your 24hr cortisol rhythm checked?

Because I know bodybuilders try to get their cortisol as low as possible to minimize muscle catabolism. Since cortisol is a natural immune suppressant/anti-inflammatory agent, if it's too low, it can allow the immune system to attack things it shouldn't. Cortisol also plays a huge role in water re-absorption (or lack of) in the large intestine(~diarrhea?).
Just another thing to look into.

I like all the knowledge that everyone has in all of these reponses. The enzymes are a big thing to check up on and allergic reactions to beef and pork are actually quite common. As sad as that makes me lol. I too have trouble with digesting protiens in beef, but its only when the meat starts to get a bit out dated. I did the budget smart dinners for a while, Hamburger Helper and the ground beef that was on sale because its expiration date was edging closer... you know.. when it starts going from pink to pinkish brown. Lord have mercy, it would make my guts cramp up like all hell. When I used fresh pink beef... no problem though. The meat was not actually spoiled yet, its just that it was starting to break down and there were different compounds in its molecular structure developing. I also have trouble with certain cheeses and too much dairy. Its enzymatic.

Another thing that happens to a lot of people in modern America ( and in some other nations too) is a lack of digestive bacteria. The human body is symbiotic with both bacteria and SOMETIMES yeast. Yeast tends to be more of a bad guy than a good guy, but for women it keeps balance in certain area's and can actually help prevent some gynecological issues. Yeast is not really that good when it comes to the guts though. Bacteria are the little guys that can make or break your innards. We all know that there are bad bacteria which cause problems on a regular basis, and other which can make you really sick such as E.coli, but there are good bacteria as well which help to break down some of the foods that our bodies are not intended to break down. They aid in breaking things down which would normally sit and rot or ferment and allow our intestinal walls to gain at least a little bit of nutrients from those foods as well as avoid complications from irritating chemical compounds.

The main problem with all of this is that many people who were born and grew as children with the developed intestinal relationship with these various kinds of bacteria are now in adulthood becoming void of them and therefore having digestive problems. Antibiotics are the main reason for this. In modern medicine, antibiotics are used frequently and not always correctly either. Sometimes it is important to kill off something that could cause severe health problems or kill you (E.coli for example), but it kills off the little helpers too. Sometimes this can cause digestive issues, scientists are starting to realize this and that is why all of this "Pro-biotic" stuff is around. If you are having trouble, it probably would not hurt to give some of the pro-biotics a try. ^_^

This is a serious problem that you are handling needless to say. I have read all the post that everyone posted and is amazed at the amount of knowledge that is being shared among one another.

I have experienced chronic diarrhea in the past and I did find a solution to it. To relieve the diarrhea, I used Nana Flakes. it's a powdered fiber product made from dried bananas. I used it on a daily basis, mixed it with my meals. I also recommended it to a couple of my friends when their children had diarrhea. and it works PERFECTLY.

Give it a try and please let me know what effect it brought to your condition. You can find out more about it if u click on the following link http://www.ndlabs.com/product/680

Take care and feel better

Have you tried getting a blood test for Coelic Disease? I have the same symptoms as you and i just saw it on the internet, the symptoms are very similar to IBS, but include joint pain and swelling in some cases. 1 in 10 people with 'IBS' are diagnosed wrongly and its actually Coelic Disease, which basically means you are gluten intolerant. There is a test you can order for £20 otherwise it does say that GPS now have them available so ask your GP to give you a simple blood test. Im going next week to get this done, as this is starting to ruin my life

Good luck xx

If you want to quit smoking look up a laser treatment center in your area...It costs about as much as a months worth of smoking but works instantley.

I bet that you have IBS. I also have IBS and when I get stressed out it causes a lot of pain. My suggestion is to ask for a sample of the medication for IBS from your doctor and see if that helps your pain.

It's possible that you could have IBS although you shouldn't rule out celiac disease, crohn's disease, or colitis either. ALl four are pretty likely culprits. Make sure that your doctor tests for all four, okay?

everyone needs to understand that the foods we are putting into our bodies are not the same foods that were around twenty and fifty years ago. We live in an ever changing world of food processing and pesticides that continue to become more and more toxic all the time and this is what our bodies are not used too and it is making us sick. I too lived with diarrhea everyday since I was 13. Now, I quit eating out completely and gave up all foods with white flour (wheat, etc). No red meat, no stimulant (caffiene, tobacco). All organic produce excessively washed clean. After all this at age 30, I finally kicked the stomach problems for good. Every now and then I eat hamburger and get I'll. My advice is stick to all natural foods prepared yourself and not too much fruit or veges because this has a lot of fiber and too much can give you diarrhea. I eat, Lara bars everyday, bananas, 2 veges, chicken, and alot of brown or white rice. No sauces, spices, condiments. Do this and diarrhea should go away in time. Took me a few weeks, after 17 years of an awful life.

Hello, You may have since found your cure, but upon reading about the joint inflammation with GI symptoms, I wonder if you may have one of the enteric (gut) arthropathies (arthritis) disorders associated with an infection. Ulcerative colitis has, along with bloody diarrhea, a tendency to inflame the small hand and foot joints. Crohn's often has fever and weight loss associated, and may show fat floating with the feces. Both are very uncomfortable, but the risk of colon cancer is high with ulcerative colitis. Another that came to mind is Whipple's disease, famous for diarrhea and joint pain, but Whipple's is very rare. I hope you have found a solution. All of these may be diagnosed by antibody markers or endoscopic techniques which sample the lining for the laboratory work-up. Best, Heather
